She was a fantastic character. I loved that FINALLY a they broke the trope of “completely normal girl suddenly becomes a fighting machine/ badass” trope these kinds of movies tend to have. Grace had no idea what she was doing the entire movie and relied purely on realistic instincts or conveniences to escape, and that made the movie so much more fun and believable.

Like they said in the beginning; you don't have to win, you just have to play. Grace survived. Even when they had her on the table for sacrifice the second time, they stabbed her in the shoulder and surrounded her. There was no way out, but she didn't need one. She made it to dawn, that was all she had to do. Watching the family explode when they tried to break the rules and kill her anyway? That was her victory lap.

Throughout the movie I couldn’t help but feel like her survival instincts came from something she had to deal with in the past. I’d love to see a prequel about that, and how she just nonchalantly reacts to seeing Mr Lebeau in his chair. Her past trauma may not have been explicitly supernatural but it seems like she’s been through some fucked up shit.
