@@ramirez102 I enjoyed it honestly. I had a 3-2-2-3 rotation. The days were long but I got plenty of days off and It was kinda boring but I got a good amount of time off and it really advanced my career. Getting E5 pay when I would have been lucky to be an E-4 alone made it worth it to me tbh and I met some cool ass sailors and marines that I'm still friends with. I was in Silverdale near Seattle and had plenty to do. I can Imagine Georgia is a lot less fun tho haha

On the contrary to what most people will tell you, I would say go prp as you tend to get better duty station options after doing it. I went PRP straight out of Lackland and was able to do rivron 2 directly after and later attach tad to marsoc raiders detaining captured combatants. I also Went from e1 to E5 in less than 3 years at PRP which is possible for anyone willing to study. Also lots of time to get your surface warfare and prp pins/quals done. Its way less boring than being a gate slave guys. PRP also helps with getting government jobs if you decide to get out as you will have a higher clearance level and good experience.

Where you at kings bay or silverdale? Prp has a bad reputation it was pretty much not on my wishlist. i don't care about rank or pins. And I'm patrol qualified as a E2. And gate is fun bc i get to see dumb people at gate

@@ramirez102 I was at Silverdale but I re-enlisted once after that and I’ve been a civilian for about 2 years now. I worked about 65 hours a week but was only on post for half that time. There are about 5 types of posts you can stand in prp and gate is one of them. You can also get your Humvee, bearcat and coxswain qualification. Prp has harbor patrol which is pretty dope and chill

@Ramirez like he said, go PRP SWFPAC (Silverdale) they get a lot more trining and if you get lucky you can go RTT (recovery tactics team) and go to CQB school with the Marines. SWFLANT (Georgia, sister command) usually doesn't allows sailors for RTT. Some days it WILL SUCK, but just soak up everything you can.

I went 2 years ago and it’s much different. We didn’t have protective gear for the red man. On my class the red man dislocated a students shoulder and broke another once leg.

Training is okay for straight out of high school grads, kind of remedial, but when sailors get shore duty with base security, how do they know how to deal with a domestic violence situation? Also why isn’t MA school not FLETA accredited like sister branches?

The MA rate recently transitioned to a Law Enforcement C school after the initial A school for sailors that will be going to CNIC commands where they will learn law enforcement fundamentals and how to respond to different calls for service, Navy is currently working on getting all MAs accredited just like other branches.

Probably because the Navy does security differently than other branches. You got base security then each individual command has their own security apparatus.

MAs are still trained on the M9 because that's what most commands still use, but they have been trying to switch to the M18 for a while now. The only time you'll use the M9 still in A school or C school is weapons block.

I got to attach to a riverine squadron as my second duty station and did a tad with raiders. It was fun but you SF dudes tend to get better equipment and duty stations in general. If you're familiar with the SF PRP program in Nebraska I was one of the Navy MA Liaisons that attend the S.T.A.R.T inspections alongside the Russians. I was there in 2016 and you guys were strapped up with m203s LOL I was pretty jealous as I had to get approval chits to even put a foregrip on my m4.

So after the 9 week A-School which is mostly force protection. You can get selected for Law Enforcement C-School for 6 weeks which is just straight law enforcement. You do EVOC, UCMJ, Domestic Violence, Barricaded Subject, Alarm Response, Suspicious Person and Active Shooter.

Lol wanna hear something funny? I was an MA after 9/11…sent to 5th fleet back when they were the “baddest in the fleet” out there. Ended up getting out and re upping as a machine gunner in an armored infantry unit in the army. In my opinion, that was more fun, and more of what I did while forward deployed that you won’t do anywhere else. Hell 5th fleet is soft as fuck now, basically resort living. If you do end up going MA…get into the interesting shit…like riverine duty, I know they got rid of Mobile Sec detatchments, but actual cool shit. Non-US citizen here but the fact that your Military Police (across all branches) learn active shooter response when they are on a site that is closed of to the general public and has armed MPs at all entry points as well as patrolling the base says a lot about the US and the state you're in when it comes to guns 🤦‍♂. How do you manage to have gun crime on a military installation that is bad enough you need to even consider active shooter training for you Military Police? CQB training is one thing as wars are fought in urban environments but active shooter training, get a grip America. If an active shooter manages to get past the initial security measures at the entry points than your security is shit. To be perfectly honest, a military base should be so secure that not even the MPs need to carry lethal weapon systems outside of manning the entry points.
