Step back in time with me as we delve into the intricate mechanics of the Omnibot 2000's iconic tray! In this mesmerizing restoration journey, I take on the challenge of bringing this vintage marvel back to life.
Owned by none other than Ernest Cline, the renowned author of Ready Player One, this Omnibot 2000 tray holds a special place in the realm of nostalgia and pop culture.
Join me as I meticulously dismantle, clean, and lubricate every component, breathing new life into the tray with just a few simple fixes. From replacing a single gear to giving it a thorough cleaning, watch as the tray transforms from a neglected relic to a smoothly functioning piece of nostalgia.
With each turn of the gears and every carefully applied drop of lubricant, we honor the craftsmanship of yesteryear while embracing the joys of hands-on restoration. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or simply curious about vintage tech, this video is sure to captivate and inspire.
So, grab a seat and prepare to be transported back in time as we unlock the secrets of the Omnibot 2000's mechanical tray!

How Randi can comprehend the gearing on this these old robots is incredible. Randi could have been a watchmaker in a different time.

I wish they would re release this thing so I can get one. I was like 8 years old when it came out. It was expensive back then even.

Wow! I've never owned one of these, I had no idea that they had that level of functionality, being able to allow selection of a drink and pouring it.

Wow, imagine being an assembly line worker that had to put one of those together... Talk about a frazzling job with all those springy bits flying all over the place. >_

This one really isn't too hard, just a lot. Other Tomy stuff is really hard.

I owned two of these robots once. One I got at a house sale and the other I got at a flea market. Both had issues with the arm that operated. Both were flipped several years ago.

Talk about stretching the cost of a lone motor as far as it can go with clutches & gearboxes. Must have been fun to clean the spills.

Randy, not sure why it's necessary for the cup to be risen. Looks like the claw can grip the cup without that.

Ironically I just purchased an Omnibot 2000, an Omnibot, and a Hearoid. All NIB (arrived today!). Not sure if I’ll open them. If I do, and they need work, then I know who I will contact.

That sounds like a battery guzzler. I had one of those types of robots back then, can't remember which one for some reason, none of the ones I looked at online look familiar. This seems like a toy that would have bored me after 1-3 days. Did anyone have one and actually get a lot of use out of it?

Ok, just wondered. It's a cool thing to get to do work for somebody famous and even cooler if you get to meet with them. Hopw he was happy with all the work you put it. It looks great. I've wanted one of these since I first saw it in a Christmas catalog back in the 80s.

It's sad nobody makes a basic 2024 version of this for sale. I'm sure plenty of people would buy it.
@RandiRain
@RandiRain 2 ай бұрын
If they cost as much as these did in 1980s money, they would probably sell about the same. Only the rich spoiled kids got them.
