@x-shift89373 жыл бұрын
@@elends2302 I know no ones really onboard with my theory lol but I think im right on this one. what a lot of people don't know about norse mythology is how Loki the trickster became who he was. he becomes a liar after discovering he was lied to all his life about something. Loki wasn't always a villain. and it would make sense in an interesting twist if the lie in the game is Loki thinking all his life that kratos is his real father, and the clue that confirms this in the game is when Athenas ghost or whatever visits kratos and says lying about being a father and kratos pauses for a second making me think their was something significant about that moment
@elends23023 жыл бұрын
@@x-shift8937 Athena's shade told Kratos that he's pretending to be something he's not then mentions "father" among the things she lists. This is because Kratos never really had the opportunity to be a father and husband to his previous family and struggles raising Atreus/Loki after Faye's passing. Athena pissed him off with that remark because Kratos was willing to dig up his dark past to save his son--hence his resentment of that particular line. You'd do well not to base ALL of Loki's story off of the original Norse material as the God of War franchise takes heavy creative liberty in weaving this stories from the source material. That and the game explicitly details that Kratos is Atreus/Loki's actual father. Not to mention he inherited Spartan Rage from Kratos himself. So, unless Faye slept with another Spartan, all theories promoting the idea that Kratos isn't his father is an extended reach.

I teared up this whole scene. sure it's cool to see the blades brought back and it's definitely fun to use them to kill enemies again but it's apparent to me that maybe some people didn't really understand how tragic the previous games were so this scene didn't hit some people as hard as it could have.

I absolutely love this scene for 3 reasons. #1: the goddamn music, may I say more? #2: While Kratos is wrapping the chain around his arm, and Athena starts taunting him. He ignores her until she says something about being a father, he then looks over at her, and stops wrapping the chain. I think you get why that’s so fundamentally important in this scene. It shoes where Kratos is vulnerable, where he is weak. He wants to be the father that Atreus needs. But he can’t, he can’t until he accepts that he’s failed before, and that he cannot fail again. And the point that he turns his head towards her, and then looks back to his weapon. That’s when he finally does. He accepts his burden, and bears it with pride. He knows he is a monster, but he also knows he has a choice. And he chooses to become the father Atreus needs. #3: Again the music.

Character development. Those blades have seen a lot of innocent blood in a previous life. It's a symbolization of Kratos being a monster and a slave to the God of War Ares. Him coming back to wield the blades to save his son, instead of murdering people is an incredible amount of character growth.

This moment is so powerful because it isn't Kratos succumbing to his old ways, its him taking a painful part of his past, a source of shame and using it to honor responsibility to his son. It is this moment where Kratos proves all of them wrong, he can change, a monster he might be but still capable of acting with noble intentions and not solely for destruction.

The reactions kills me. The scene was so big and important. I almost teared up. You know the creators wanted you to make you feel that pain. It's understandable that new players don't feel the weight of it like the creators and us veterans do. But the history is just sad and painful. From losing and almost dying in that war, last second call Ares and sell his soul. Being chained and do their bidding for 10 years like a slave, killing your wife and daughter with those very same blades. To end up killing a pantheon.. that man is troubled. You can see it clearly. And then Athena starts haunting and taunting him. He doesn't pay attention till she says father.. man that man's blood is boiling at that point. And like I said. He was a slave.. that's why he says. Yeah but I'm not your monster any more.. man that hits different knowing his past. This is such an important scene.. I get that new player are just hype for a new weapon. I was just like sad. And then the fight started. Then I turned into.. okay.. I don't want to dont this.. but alright. You've put me into this position that I have to go back to the old me..and f*ck everything up.. I always felt like this when his son said stuff like. What do you know about war? Or are you a general or what? I was like. Yo... you don't know kidd. You don't know.

I never played the first 3 games. I knew a little about the story before going into the game, and a bit about the Blades of Chaos. And this is by far my favorite moment in the entire game. When Kratos mentioned "a past he swore would stay buried," I honestly wasn't sure what he was referring to. I knew it was likely something from his previous life, but I had no idea what it was. Then, when he pulled out that Greek-style cloth... I knew. And it sent shivers throughout my entire body. Furthermore, I know many people felt ecstatic to use the blades, but while I also felt empowered, I felt... burdened. Heavier. I was using the very blades that brought the doom of an entire pantheon and its realm, all to save my son. That's pretty damn terrifying. If a scene like this can affect someone that heavily, even for someone who has barely any context compared to mosy of the playerbase... You know it's damn good storytelling. This game is one of the best I have ever played, and I will never, ever forget it. Because of this. Perfect. Scene.

@Madheim77711 ай бұрын
actually those aren't the same blades he used to slaughter the olympus. he uses them in certain games, like GOW 1, Chains of Olympus and Ascension. He specially hates and despises those blades cause of the meaning they have and what he did with them. They mean his oath to Ares, how he ruined his life himself cause of it, and specially, the death of his own greek family by him using them ( not intentionally since Ares was the one who deceived Kratos to do it). the wounds on his arms can never be cured, cause the chains of the blades burned them, since they were forged in Hades. they also simbolyze the slavery of Kratos to Ares and the service to the gods.

Basically this is supposed to be an epic scene, yet somewhat sad too. The Blades were Kratos' tool of choice in the original games (for the most part). But also the Blades he inadvertently killed his first wife and daughter with (tricked by Ares into doing so). They are a solemn reminder of what Kratos had done in the past, and to never repeat the same mistakes again, to never let his hate, his true fury out. Because in the first 3 numbered games, he did truly unspeakable things, to pretty much everyone when it came down to it, all in the name of revenge. That is what this scene is supposed to invoke to the player, joy of seeing something familiar, yet knowing that Kratos wishes to not use them. But yeah... his reaction, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was being reserved and showing respect for the scene.

I was among the few who was genuinely convinced that the Blades of Chaos would not be returning. I knew of their significance to his history, which is actually why I thought he left them behind for good. Even when he looked to his arms and spoke of digging up the past, I still wasn't sure what he was talking about. It wasn't until I saw the Blades unwrapped on the floor that I finally thought, "Shit... this really is serious..."

When I got to this part in the game myself, I was just in disbelief. He cast off the Blades for so long, never to use them again and sever all ties from Olympus. But one look at that steel and I knew he was reforming into the monster he was. The music in the background just screams "desperation and grief" as the Blades serve a grim reminder to his life as the servant of Ares. Wielding them again after knowing the Leviathan Axe was going to be useless in Helheim, I felt like Kratos - coming back into form as a monster. But it's like he said - he knows he's a monster deep down. But he will not serve the Gods anymore, nor become a slave to anyone.

Its always funny seeing these reactions. The hype and excitement behind seeing the blades is real but in Kratos' eyes, he is in the greatest of anguish. Seeing and wearing his blades is only torture for him because of what they mean to him. Hes reliving his personal hell for his boy here

This moment has never been matched for me in any other piece of media ever. I remember playing this sequence then seeing the blades had an upgrade tree and realising they were going to become an actual well built part of the combat system and I walked out of the room and screamed with joy. Unbelievable moment. Incredible writing and use of the franchises past I just couldn’t fathom how perfect it was

Feeling this man's pain and anguish thinking about everything he did with those blades....the lives he took....the family he unknowingly destroyed....the gods he killed and taking Mt Olympus down with them.....all of this came flooding back in an instant and the musical score we hear in the background that further amplified what he is now forced to become once again.....all for the sake of saving his son....MAAAAANNNNN I felt all the emotions this scene conveyed and Athena had the nerve to taunt him....only for him to simply respond with "I am your monster no longer...." OMG!!!!!! Then him walking out at that angle is a call back to that classic look from the previous GOW titles....stepping out to meet those Hel-walkers....blades in hand....I was like...."Okay.....here....we....GO!!!!! Time to really kick some ass!!!"

Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful yet heart wrenching scenes I’ve ever seen in a game. We spent years tearing through Greek monsters and Gods with these blades in badass glory with a younger Kratos with no thought of the future. Yet here we are now, with an older Kratos, a father once again, who knows very well of the sins he’s committed and the demons he lives with, forced to once again take up a weapon he vowed never to use again when he turned a new life. The caressing of the blades, the shaking of his hands, and the confrontation of Athena, most of it told with visuals and little dialogue. It’s absolutely breathtaking. And finally being able to use the blades. It floored me and left me in chills. The same weapon that slaughtered his previous family and marked him forever as The Ghost of Sparta is now the one thing that will protect and save the only family he has left. Cory Barlog created nothing short of a masterpiece in storytelling and the evolution of the series from an over the top hack n slash to a story centric adventure about a father and son is quite possibly one of the greatest, near impossible, achievements Santa Monica and gaming in general has accomplished.

In general I love the stories of all the games they are set up like a Greek tragedy which makes perfect sense. The real saddest part is this kratos acts very similarly to how kratos acted with his previous family but with all the betrayal,all the torture,all the suffering kratos finally snaps in god of war 3 in 1 and 2 his goals were reasonable in god of war 1 he just wants the nightmares of his family gone in god of war 2 although it is 100% reasonable Zeus kills him for basically no reason,refusing to take away his nightmares, and killing all of the Spartans who were the only family kratos have left. In god of war 3 he just kills innocent people although he did do that in god of war 1 and 2 in 1 he did it for the betterment of Athens and in 2 most “innocent” people are just selfish trying to seek the sisters of fate in gow 3 he straight up kills innocent people for no reason they’re not even trying to fight him of stand in his way you even feel sympathetic for some of the gods you kill the wife of hades kratos gives Hercules a chance to be spared Hermes was defeat and really could have been left alone he didn’t even really need the boot of Hermes he could just but at the very end we see the side of kratos from god of war 4 he talks in a much calmer tone. Then it’s just a man bathed in blood tired and crying these games really show how far a person can be driven until they are broken while as well as showing that anybody can change despite everything they’ve done.

Poor kratos he tried to hide and forget his past but now he has no choice his sons life is in danger and now he has to use the very same blades that he used to slaughter and kill gods with....and when kratos said to athena "i know but i am no longer your monster" thats sounds like a threat to the norse gods and kratos sounded badass damn kratos now has a weapon of ice and fire But i feel sorry for kratos first there is the fact that kratos killed and slaughtered innocents with those blades but still he was consumed by rage because of ares....NOW GO FORTH KRATOS USE THOSE BLADES FOR GOOD!!!!

Something I never notice anyone mention about this scene: the Blades are still permanently blood-stained. A constant reminder of the atrocities the blades were used for, not just the scars and ashes Kratos carries. Just seeing the stains on the blades tells you their violent history in one look.
