All copters use less energy when flying forward compared to hovering as they get extra lift from the forward movement. That being said, the Mavic is probably still more efficient when moving

Pawel Orzechowski the phantom 4 pro can shoot 4k 60fps 20megapixel 100mbps bit rare footage, the quality is miles ahead of the mavic. I am talking about the PRO specifically though, it has a much MUCH better camera then the original phantom 4 original.

Daytona 6263 no it doesn't shoot in raw ? Maybe the phantom 5 will but no I don't mean raw footage. The sensor had a huge upgrade in the camera between the 4 and 4 pro and just watch some proper videos comparing the footage between the two, huge difference in quality now.

Thanks Ready Set Drone for your non confusing, and very informative video comparison of these two DJI drones! A quick question if I may. I am a old guy that is into model railroading and taking photos of trains so I can paint up some for me and my grandson. Momma (the BANKER) would probably beat me if I spent $1000 on a drone to take those pics, even if I enjoyed the drone flying too!), so my question is, what is a drone in the $300 and below range that in your opinion, would be a good choice for a half-blind klutz (I destroyed multiple COX airplanes as a kid, trying to take off!!) and would have an acceptable camera resolution + range( probably not more 500 yds). Any suggestions and tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Thanks for the comment. Based on your criteria, I would suggest picking up a Phantom 3 Standard. I think you can get them for around $300 and it has acceptable camera resolution and range. You might be able to find a used on on eBay for cheap too. Thanks for watching!

Great review , I’m thinking about adding the mavic 2 zoom as my second drone to supplement my mavic air. I actually feel the phantom is starting to look more like a toy to be honest. I watched on another channel a guy talking about how hot the Mavic gets during a flight, especially the heatsink on the bottom. I expressed concerns about folding up the lower props against the heatsink directly after landing due to this heat but the guy ignored my question. Do you have any similar thoughts/concerns about this?
@readysetdrone7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and question. Yes. When you land it after a long flight, the metal on the bottom is pretty warm. However, the whole point of the heatsink is to dissipate the heat, which it does pretty well. The legs are made of a very hard plastic and I don't see the quad getting hot enough to affect them at all. I would not put the Mavic back into my bag right away after flight. But after 5 minutes, I think it would be fine. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for this great comparison - excellent for me, looking for a replacement of my Phantom 3. A lot is going for the Mavic, but I cannot help noticing the staggering difference in image quality. The Phantom is tack sharp, while the Mavic looks positively unfocused. Check 15:23 - the left side of the image is not just a tad soft, but quite frankly totally blurred. I don't think I could accept this subpar image quality and I am just about to cancel my order. Did you set the focus correctly?
@MrPixelgrower7 жыл бұрын
Just coming at this as a 35 year photographer, 2.8 versus 2.2 does not provide THAT much extra in the way of depth of field (distance in focus). I don't own either of these, but am thinking of the Mavic some day soon. Maybe the 2.2 aperature is causing the softness on the Mavic, also lens build can make a difference. Maybe there was a dud lens element in the test Mavic. Hard to say..?

I do a lot of photography and just wanted to mention... a 2.2 vs a 2.8 aperture is not negligible. As the aperture numbers get smaller, the difference between the numbers has more of an impact. I'd have to do the math, but I'd guess the 2.2 lets somewhere around 2x the amount of light as 2.8.. maybe a little less..

Currently I fly the Yuneec Typhoon G and I am not happy with it. I have do decide between the P4, Mavic and the P4P, here in Germany the p4 cost only 1050$ and the Mavic is way more expensive. Or is it worth saving 700$ and buy the P4p? Because of the Typhoon G I am used to carry a larger drone, in my view the P4 is quite small :p wich drone would you buy it the p4 is the cheapest?
@readysetdrone7 жыл бұрын
It depends on why you fly. If you are a serious photographer or videographer, then the P4Pro is worth it. However, if you are more of a hobby photographer and like to fly for fun, then the original P4 is great. Plus the price for the original P4 is going down. Hope that helps and happy flying!

The Mavic has a horrible image sensor. I owned a Phantom 3 Professional, and now I own a Mavic. Latter has a) a horrible picture settings out of the box, but those can be tweaked, and b) a horrible sensor. When shooting in raw, there are literally hundreds of defective pixels, some of the defects are more than 4x4 pixels wide. And of course, the notoriously bad customer service at DJI refuses to exchange of the defective device. So if you get a Mavic, shoot some raw photos and look at them undeveloped.
@readysetdrone7 жыл бұрын
Hi Lars. Thanks for the comment. Honestly, I primarily use my DJIs for video and rarely for photos. And when I do shoot photos, they are always JPG files. I realize that's not the best way to do it, but it meets my needs. So the information about shooting photos in RAW with the Mavic is good to know! Thanks again and I wish you the best!

Hi. Not here to bash you, but i think you're wrong about the footage quality comparison. The Mavic has problems with aliasing at higher framerates. (above 30fps) Also called "moire effect" Can be seen in this video at 4:17 in the golf flag's pole and edges of the windows of the houses. It is a camera limitation and can not been fixed by firmware update. Not a huge deal for everyone but for me it was a dealbreaker and i ended up getting the Phantom. Also it is cheaper in Finland than the Mavic. Phantom 4's camera simply is better. These are aerial photography tools and the most important thing is the camera. Also seems to me that your Mavic's lense's left side is blurry? It is a reported issue also.

You've had the P4 for "almost a year"? It wasn't available until March 2016. LOL! Also, most quadcopters use less power when going forward (conservatively) than when just hovering. Hovering takes more energy and moving forward produces more lift to help ease the power consumption.

Great genuine comparison. Like the fact that you actually chose one over the other. Not another 20 min video without the closure. Cheers mate

Your comment about what drone is more professional looking is absurd. I hand catch my Mavic a lot and Casey Neistat has show it to be easy to do as well. My iPad Mini fits just fine in my Mavic controller. Flying a drone does not require a giant screen to fly.

Mavic footage looks better in my opinion.

I'd rather the phantom 4

Yeah, I can see why if you have money. Go for it! Unless you already have it. Most people don't have that much money and they see that somehow something cheaper has better options.

I wouldn't say so, the mavic is basically the phantom 4, but is half in size. The phantom 4 has a slightly sharper picture, but the Mavics footage can just be increased in editing.

Purple Pieter - I have both. I like the Mavic much better. Phantom's bulky and loud design has been made obsolete by the Mavic.

Spicy Barracuda not really. the focus is horrible unless you are in control.

Don't like either too expensive and they are made out of cheap plastic!!! Break easily...$200 G5 GPS drones are just as good 👍 Don't waste your money on these expensive ones!! Mavic or Phantom horrible experience.

The Mavic Pro would be more visible if it were white like the Phantom rather than dark grey. As a newbie I will try to find out if the DJI equipment is EASIER to control and fly than other quadcopter. The Mavic appears to land itself but not sure if this function will work indoors. Any and all comments are appreciated by this beginner. I do not want to crash a $1000 investment !!! OR am I starting off with the wrong machine altogether?

So...... $200 less, more light time, more range, much smaller footprint with huge portability options. Hmmmm, which one should I pick? lol
