I never knew the difference between HorizonSteady and RockSteady stabilization. Thanks for explaining it so well, and show us examples of each. The Avata has some nice features. Great video Kelly, and thanks for sharing.

Ah!!! [Ready Set Drone], I also have Avatar 1, and through this video, I first learned how to set EIS > HorizonSteady in Settings > Camera. I've always worried a lot about how much shaking there is when flying at low speeds, and thanks to you today, I was able to learn a lot. In particular, I think the video shot while flying inside the cafe was the best, and I also really appreciated the various example videos about turning off EIS, RockSteady mode, and HorizonSteady mode.

Great video. Only other thing I would have liked to have seen was RockSteady vs off. I flew the other day testing all 3 modes and did not notice a big difference between the two. I have also heard about people using GyroFlow(?) software instead of the built in stabilization so including that would be an even more thorough test and comparison.
@readysetdrone4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input. We've used Gyroflow in the past, and it is awesome to have that flexibility, after recording, for sure. We might do an updated video with the Avata 2 and take your suggestions into account.

You don’t see it in the goggles-only the final video

Great stuff, thanks! For indoor real estate shooting, would you choose Horizon Steady or no internal stabilization and then run through GyroFlow?

Horizon Steady has worked fine for me. I'm not sure of any compelling advantages to using Gyroflow for indoor shots with the Avata.

My question is and mind you I have little fpv experience but lots of normal camera drone experience. I have an Avata 2 and if you want to fly indoors and capture footage but physically see the drone line of sight and know what you're capturing is this possible? For example wearing the goggles and backing out of a space with no obstacle avoidance doesn't seem wise. I rather watch the drone and fly it that way what do u suggest? Thanks!
@readysetdrone6 ай бұрын
You can plug in your phone, or have the goggles wirelessly transmit the video feed to your phone. That should allow you to see the drone in real life as well as take a peak at the camera view. Another option is to enable the PiP mode (picture in picture. Then you can have the drone's camera view in the left quadrant and then you can see through the goggles cameras and look at your drone.

@@readysetdrone I kind of wish it had obstacle avoidance just for certain scenarios flying indoors or even outside if you just became nervous somewhere 🫣
@readysetdrone5 ай бұрын
Agreed! We thought it might have obstacle avoidance in the rear, but after crashing into ourselves, gently, we found that it doesn't. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJaXgZSwl9eUfLcsi=zQXCxszprZS30U8d&t=947

nice video thank you! do you have to stabilize footage after when using rocksteady or horizon or does this do it automatically please?
@readysetdrone4 ай бұрын
It's all automatic, which is convenient, but also not the most flexible, because if you accidentally leave Horizon Steady turned on when you wanted to have Rock Steady turned on, there's no going back. Don't ask how I found that out! 😄

Can you set the camera to ultra wide and use horizon steady? Or does it have to be set at wide
5 ай бұрын
Hi there, did drone record files with smaller resolution when stabilization is ON?
@readysetdrone5 ай бұрын
Yes and no. The reason I say that is because the resulting file, when recording in 4k, is still 4k, even when Horizon Steady is enabled. However, it's cropping in on the sensor, therefore reducing the effective resolution. You can definitely notice that the quality is lacking, but it's still usable.

Does horizon steady only work if the SD card is in the drone only?
@readysetdrone3 ай бұрын
Hey Trey. That sounds crazy, if it's true! I haven't heard anything like that before. We generally fly and record to the SD card, but sometimes, if we forget a card, we record to the drone's internal storage, but usually we use rocksteady. We can look into it if you'd like.
@eagleeyeviewimages3 ай бұрын
Yesterday I put the SD card in the drone and the horizontal stable worked amazingly... Thanks for the response. I would have thought horizontal steady would still work with SD card in Goggles lol. If you could duplicate what I found out on your avata that would make a good video because I couldn't find a video anywhere about the SD card had to be in the drone for horizontal steady and rock steady to work.

Can you fly backward with any of these mode ?
@readysetdrone8 ай бұрын
These modes are camera settings. You can fly backwards with the DJI Avata if you use the FPV controller 2 or the Motion Controller 2. The Motion Controller 1 does not allow backwards flight.
