"Sometimes their voices are louder than ours, but they are not yet the majority." If that statement doesn't put where we are today, in perspective, you must be the "majority".

I'm so glad American people in '80 and '84 thought otherwise. Also, to the guy who said communism is not a big deal: clearly, you have never lived under a communist regime. I, as a Hungarian, would like to thank Ronald Reagan for everything he did to defeat the evil empire. God bless Ronald Reagan and every true Christian in the United States.

wrothacker4 The love wasn't universal. Some of understood, even then, that what he was accomplishing was the beginning of the end. The downhill slide he set us on continues. Up until GWB knocked him out of the position, Reagan was my most loathed President in my lifetime of six decades. That's right, Reagan was even WORSE than GWB ... in a number of ways. Google 'reagan worse than bush', read. What gets me is all of the dreamy eyed right wing radicals today, pining for the glory days of their Party ... but who would label Reagan as a Liberal today. If he were to run for the Presidency today they'd laugh him out of town.

Well I worked at the same company in the oil and gas industry for 30 years before taking early retirement 18 years ago. I've got a comfortable home and retirement so as far as I'm concerned things have worked out fine for me. I don't doubt what you say about today's people, but most didn't live through that era of double digit inflation and unemployment, gas lines and 444 days of hostages that his presidency came off of. We had a good economy once again and felt proud of America. If people don't like that, they can go to hell.

Grandma 90 years old, born and raised on a ranch in Newcastle Wyoming. She stated that: in her lifetime that she has never seen our country in such a such a bad State. She and I I both live on the Oklahoma - Kansas Stateline I’m half CHEROKEE, I have great Pride in CHEROKEE NATION This is also have pride in the fact that I live in Farm and Ranch County. I’ve not seen our country in such a bad state in my lifetime. We can learn from history.

“There are certain truths which stand out so openly on the roadsides of life, as it were, that every passer-by may see them. Yet, because of their obviousness, the general run of people disregard such truths or at least they do not make them the object of any concious knowledge. People are so bliend to some of the simplest facts in everyday life that they are highly surprised when somebody calls attention to what everybody ought to know.”

Those of you who are quick to praise Reagan, don't forget that Gorbachev was just as important in the role of tearing down the "iron curtain". Rather than apologizing for this country and the founding fathers, it is much better to understand the purpose of this country and the freedoms it has brought to more people than any other country in the world. Reagan was an integral part of that history, unlike the current path we heading down now. The county needs another Reagan, Washington, Lincoln, or Kennedy.

That was a great speech. Ronald Reagan was the greatest leader of the 20th century, much greater than Churchill, Roosevelt, Eisenhower. Those mentioned were weak and let Stalin spread Communism in the heart and Eastern part of Europe. Ronald Reagan made the Communism collapse. For East-Europeans, in particular, Ronald Reagan is a hero: He released them from the Communism slavery. Credit for this should also take the British premier Margaret Thatcher, the Pope John Paul the 2nd, and in a lesser degree, Michael Gorbachev.
