@@markuschelios6891 It was part of a comedy routine lol. It's a joke; he's making light of the fact that he got shot. He probably wanted to quell the fears left in the people after their President was shot by being amusing. Not a lie, it was just a comedic bit.

mike force Ofc i know that, but some presidents are ingenious and inventive and come up with smart phrases on their own. And all the Presidents who were good orators did a little of contribution. Like how Obama is great at extemporaneous speech

@@Danymok Trump makes self-deprecating jokes all of the time at his rallies. But of course, unless you watch them, you wouldn't know that. However, he is not Regan in that regard. Making good jokes is one thing. Comedic timing is a skill. Reagan had that skill.

In the operating room, Reagan removed his oxygen mask to joke, "I hope you are all Republicans." The doctors and nurses laughed, and Dr Giordano Joseph (head of the trauma team) a liberal Democrat, replied, "Today, Mr. President, we are all Republicans." Just wow. Humanity above all.

That's the difference between the political climate of the '80s, and today. The aisle was not so wide and there was a sense of humor about things. You'd never see the Gipper call his opponents "losers" or "sad" or mock them on the podium.

@@HeadHunterSix but in the 1980's, you would have never heard of those, so evil and corrupt as what the Clintons of the past several years have done through illegal fundraising through every imaginable device, ( Uranium Gate and what the Clinton Foundation did to deprive Haiti of needed funds after the hurricane) and you would have never heard of a sitting Senator standing in front of the Supreme Court Building threatening two judges if they did not render the decision that he (Schumer) wanted !! And there was no vice president in the 1980s making a public threat to a foreign country (Ukraine) that if they did not fire the prosecutor going after his son (Biden) they would not get the billion dollars !!

When President Reagan was rushed to George Washington University Hospital after the assassination attempt and was operated on, he had a brief stay of a few days. My Mom was a cancer patient there at the same time. Reagan received countless flower arrangements wishing him a speedy recovery. He sent them on to other patients, with a hand written note that he had composed and written himself and signed, wishing them well. My Mom received one of these with the note, and was overjoyed that the President had sent her flowers. It made her very happy. What a kind and human gesture!

We all do Sir. For a gifted world calming peace leader he stood with strength and a modest self opinion that appealed to everyone. Statesmanship should be taught in Political Sciences today, but, I am afraid we are surrounded by idiots that prefer to throw gasoline on the fires of division instead of light hearted humor that eases all. A truly lost art form. We indeed LOVE Ronald Reagan for his guidance and historical prowess that will likely never be surpassed. I remember one specifically: "I think you all know that I've always felt the nine most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help." Though perhaps genuinely they would like to help the overburden of trying typically causes more harm than good due to bureaucracy and red tape. Today with the Criminal Justice System being weaponized against ANYONE that speaks out about topics the Demoratz do not agree with, makes you suspect by definition and traitorous by inference. THIS MUST BE CHANGED.

Reagan ran for president campaigning that he’d eliminate the national debt and would remove the departments of education and energy. Yes, you read that right. The debt had come to 800 billion in 200 years. Before he had left it had more than doubled. His plan was to eliminate unnecessary programs and spending. Welfare? He gave a famous speech citing the Chinese proverb “if you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for the rest of his life” Then he cut both welfare and education. Government health programs? Slash. He continued doing this until anything that remotely benefited the common man had been ruined. Then he proceeded to spend many times more than what he removed on military. Ludicrous projects like spending billions renovating obsolete WWII battleships that had no purpose and are being dismantled as we speak. He was an actor and the American people loved it.

When the news broke that President Reagan had passed, I shutdown the lab and headed to a restaurant to watch news coverage. RIP, Ronald Wilson Reagan.

It was a great time to be alive and an American when Ronnie held office. You might not agree on everything he did but you knew that he loved the country and it's people and tried to do right by them and that's one of the reasons why he had a solid block of democrats voting for him too. He is the only President that I listened to speeches when he came on TV and enjoyed as did most in the country and that is why he's known as The Great Communicator. He inspired us, period.

I am not an American myself, but I remember speaking with my American friend and he said "Ronald Reagan was a great president. Being an American meant something then". That kinda stuck with me and got me to study American history with special emphasis on Reagan's presidency and I can tell there was definitely nothing wrong with Reagan's sense of humor.

Reagan ran for president campaigning that he’d eliminate the national debt and would remove the departments of education and energy. Yes, you read that right. The debt had come to 800 billion in 200 years. Before he had left it had more than doubled. His plan was to eliminate unnecessary programs and spending. Welfare? He gave a famous speech citing the Chinese proverb “if you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for the rest of his life” Then he cut both welfare and education. Government health programs? Slash. He continued doing this until anything that remotely benefited the common man had been ruined. Then he proceeded to spend many times more than what he removed on military. Ludicrous projects like spending billions renovating obsolete WWII battleships that had no purpose and are being dismantled as we speak. He was an actor and the American people loved it.
