I do appreciate the different approach on how you break down the way of how to succeed on KZbin and how to find your own path. As a small creator and been in the journey around a year + now it’s refreshing and pushing to keep going

I totally agree with you and Jake. Setting a goal at the start of creating content on KZbin is a great idea. When I thought of doing KZbin, I had no clue of what to film, no clue of how to edit, much-less, know how to even create a channel and/or load-up a video... I knew zilch! I was basically a fish looking for a pond to swim in... But I started this creative field by setting a goal of 3 years. I also went into it with the mind set, that even if nobody watched my content, I'd be at least leaving behind a bit of my legacy behind - of the things I've done and/or loved to do. And I also set this goal with the mind set of giving it my all to see of if perhaps I could make a bit of income to add to my retirement income once I retired from my job. My overall goal was and is; To inspire others to get up, get out and get active in one way or other, and perhaps pass on some wisdom along the way. So I started doing videos by climbing stairs during my lunch time telling stories. Climbing stairs during my lunchtime was something I did anyway, so why not film it. After work, I'd filmed projects I do in my yard, whether it be creating something or working in my garden. To my surprise, I got monetized on KZbin within 8 months. So if I can do this, anybody can do this. I don't get a ton of views all the time. But in my opinion, every view is one I'm grateful for and what inspires me to continue. So thank you Deven for sharing this video...I always walk away from your videos learning something every time. :-)

The ocean sounds behind Jake in his interview are just beautiful! Also, I agree about your statement on making videos you WANT to make. But also import to think about your audience while making those types of videos. I'm trying to that more myself, and respect my viewers while editing.

Maybe I am the only guy that wants to make videos as entertainment and not as part of my income. I mean, I will never pass by a hundred dollar bill on the floor,, but what gets me motivated is a getting a comment saying how much they enjoyed your video that you work hard to put together and finally someone appreciate that hard work. 👍🏼

I had to look how many videos I've made and it says 300 starting April 29, 2010. Mostly as a way I could share video with friends family and if anyone else is interested that was cool. Not sure I've made them all viewable since some are probably just raw uploads before I did editing. Most of my videos tend to be mountain bike trail documentaries so 1 trail system will end up as a playlist with multiple videos to represent sections of the trail system. Lately I got a drone (that has usable footage unlike prior drones) and adding my edited footage to share with friends/family but others welcome to watch. Even more lately I found my old RC Cars from the 80s/90s and I know there is at least a small number of fellow vintage RC car folks that may get a kick out of it so I plan to dig each one out, get it running, and do a vidoc on them - maybe 10-15 cars total so not a long term thing. I plan to keep at it if for no other reason, convenient way to share with friends/family - maybe try and be more consistent and not just release everything I have edited at once (other than trail system videos) - cross posting on instagram sounds like a plan too!

Great video. Like a lot of people my page started out as a way to capture/keep my videos for family and stuff. I have now decided to create a separate channels for different content. Having a separate family channel will allow me to have videos for my family (in the future) and another Channels for my different hobbies and crazy things I enjoy doing.

Great Video! I've learned so much from your videos whether it's been via your tutorials or looking at how you go about filming your stories. That said, I'm going on my 3rd year on posting content and I struggle with doing a live stream Q & A or creating a simple Q & A video addressing subscribers questions because I'm answering then as comments are being asked via comments. I have even asked via the community to ask questions for an up coming q & A and I didn't get any real response. So how do you go about doing a live stream or even creating a Q & A video? Would you kindly do a video on this subject? It would really be appreciated. :-)

@JevenDovey2 жыл бұрын
Depends. Are they bringing in views to your channel that are from an audience thats different then what you're trying to build? I have started to go through and remove some of my older videos because I am making this channel much more focused and I only want to bring in one audience

So you have been transitioning into 2 channels each with a specific niche. You're a HUGE channel compared to mine and I'm wandering if it's bad to have a smorgasbord of content just so the channel has content year round? I have an outdoor channel where hunting content can mostly get made only during hunting season. So I fill the rest of the year with other outdoor activities. As a newer creator I didn't know if I should keep making content (whatever it is) until I have things figured out or if I would break my channel into pieces already but part of the year won't have new content? Great videos!
@JevenDovey2 жыл бұрын
Variety channels don’t work unless it’s all content that the audience will watch. If there is a clear division then you shouldn’t keep it one channel. Is there a way to reuse some of the hunting footage to continue to make videos out of hunting season? Look what other channels do off season as well. For outdoor general content do those people want to watch hunting?
@RichardFredrickson2 жыл бұрын
@@JevenDovey as a solo hunter I'm still balancing being successful at hunting AND filming lol. So I don't have enough footage to make interesting content year round. I could do some scouting or educational videos A lot of hunting channels transition into backpacking/camping/overlanding channels or doing gear testing for the next season. Thanks for getting back to me. I have some direction moving forward after thinking about your questions.
