Yes, hence why I said that the Anglo-Saxons descended from 3 Germanic tribes, two of which being Angles and Saxons.

The Vikings were different from the Anglo-Saxons, just FYI. The Algo-Saxons were a race of people descended from 3 Germanic tribes, and the Vikings were raiders and warriors of Norse, Danish, Swedish, and Ruser descent (for the most part). The Vikings were enemies of the Anglo-Saxons, just like they were enemies of everyone besides themselves.

The Anglo-Saxons weren't a race, and were descended from far more than three tribes. Try thirty.

Oh well sure. Since it's the same general geographical location and time period, the Anglo-Saxons also used the same weapons of war as the Vikings as well.

Thank you for sharing a place I most likely will not see, I really enjoyed the video :)

Good video! I agree about what you say regarding sophistication. I think people would need to actually live in these places in order for us to understand what it was really like from an ordinary person's perspective. Then they could say what works, what doesn't work, what issues and problems there are and how they got around them, the practicality of certain things. Again, great video, thanks!

Village? Looks more like a jumble of buildings just randomly plopped down, otherwise nothing, no small gardens or fences it just looks like a dead prop for a cheap movie. Have seen other open air museums where you have the impression the people just left 5min ago, but this is just ugh.
@antonymash958610 жыл бұрын
Yeah... that's kind of how it was back then. The "village" as we imagine it didn't come about until long after this period. Their concept of a village was much more sprawling and spread out.

The houses have been built on the actual post holes of the actual original buildings. All the doors face south. This really is how it would have been. Anything left in the houses will be stolen within days which is particularly sad when you realise that items have been made by members of the Friends of West Stow who give their time for free. The garden grows authentic veg for the period, things like celtic beans (horse beans). FFI about heritage vegetables, check out Garden Organic

Well just 50km from where I live there is a farmstead recreated based on archeological finds of a farm of the time of Charlemagne, also with the correct plants even back breeded live stock but it does not look like a deserted film prop.
