Real Avid has always had smart tools. I appreciate a company that puts kits like this together for us gun nerds.

Good tools. Good service. Even the plastic case the kit comes in is well made. Kudos to Real Avid. Money well spent, and I recommend them.

I was tired of the cheap Wheeler tools and started looking for better. My need has also expanded beyond AR-15’s so I wanted more useful. I liked the crows feet but at $29 each plus the cost of the other tools it was by far cheaper to go with the same pro set you reviewed. I am welding a tool stand for the vise tonight and plan to build my first AR in 10 years once my FORM 1 gets back from the ATF. Thank you for the video it was useful in my decision making.

Thanks for watching and I totally agree!

Looks like they left out their armorer’s wrench (what you referred to as hatchet) which handles many of the things you mentioned like loosening muzzle devices, castle nuts, buffer tubes, etc. Also, “avid” means having an enthusiastic interest in something like “He’s an avid stamp collector” and the “av” in avid is pronounced like it is in “have” not like it is in “dave”. Great review and extra info. Thanks!

That is what the crow feet and torque wrench is for. They replace the armorer's wrench.

@@TheRogueBanshee like you said in the video, you aren’t supposed to use a torque wrench to loosen things. That’s what I have also heard repeated across many instructional videos. Thanks again for a great review.

This is great video, I did order an AR10 upper Lug-lok for an upcoming build and so far I am confused if it is going to work; the upper I have ordered are 2 different ones from AP; M5E1 and the Regular one M5; the barrel is a Wilson Combat Super Sniper 20" and would be acquiring another one 22" for a 6.5 upper build as well; the 20" barrel fits like a glove in the M5 upper but when I slide the vise in only goes few mm into the chamber, and the locking pin on bottom for DPMS pattern does not align; it is OFF!! so I don't know if I got a bad upper, barrel or vise!! The real /armorer kit pro should also include the tools for AR10 adding the ratchet wrench then it would be complete but this company is obviously making a pretty penny by selling all components needed for the same purposes separated and so it is their wright but they should have it combined as well into one big kit; now the price would be equal to a good quality gun but look at Fix Stick; they are SUPER expensive; I own a combined kit that is close to 1K! Crazy!!

great set, no question about it. I just wish that the case had a scare shape, just for storage purposes and for the punches, well I don't like the quality of them and I find that the hammer is a little bit to small. All in all a great kit but it leaves room for improvement, If you want to use it on a daily basis, for sporadic use its almost everything you would need.

I will admit that it took me a little bit to get used to the hammer. At first I thought it wasn't balanced well. Then I realized that it is hard to over apply force with the way it is designed. I don't see a problem with the punches, I have had way crappier punches from other companies. There are some things that I just had to get used to on the kit but once you realize their methods, its not wrong, just different. If I were putting together this kit as my own to sell, there are a few things I would do differently. but overall I am enjoying using it as is.

You could work on a lot of long guns with this kit. Your icon is awesome!!!!

7:52 while this is true for torquing a muzzle devic, it is not true for the barrel nut: you will apply force to the barrel indexing knob and can break your upper receiver if you exceed the recommended maximum torque.

Very True, I did just that on a 308 barrel last year when I was playing with the 308 version of the lug-lok to test just that type of failure. It was fun putting the barrel extension back on and re-headspacing that barrel.

This kit can be used with something besides an AR, right? I have a SCAR and a TS12 as well as some pistols. I would like to use to work on other folk’s firearms.
@peytonpruett94162 жыл бұрын
(Idk) but honestly I’m sure you could I don’t see why you couldn’t use some of these tools for other things just besides ar15s I could be wrong though lol

Depends on your needs and finances.

you do torque a muzzle device
@TheRogueBanshee6 ай бұрын
No, the crush washer is there to keep pressure on the muzzle device to keep it from coming off. You time a muzzle device. I have a video on the channel that goes through the complete assembly of an upper and it talks about that.
@wrinklywizardpouch6 ай бұрын
@TheRogueBanshee oh yea? Short brakes such as a2 sure. Anything an inch and some change or longer is shimmed (if needed), torqued, and timed. Especially if it's a qd. Tell me I'm wrong I'll tell you why I'm not.
