I have this. Buy it. It’s awesome. Everything in a case. Are you kidding. Over the years I’ve purchased so many tools I started making a pile to sell them. Have multiples of many. Pivot pin tool is the best.

Per your question at 8:14, those pins come out of that red block, and they go on either side of the flat part of the upper vise block. They would sit above the top edge of your vise, and stop the block from slipping and pointing toward the floor if you are putting downward force on it. Say, something out near the muzzle device.

Looks like a pretty well-built kit. They never had those things around when I was building a ours back in 1984 and 5. I've got an entire Shop full of tools for working primarily on AR-15s, M16, and AR-10, lr-308 platform rifles. It looks like you're only missing a couple of things basically for custom stuff. The only thing I will say is when you combine multiple tools on to one item, sometimes none of them work as well as if you have them in single units. Case in point that hammer that does Castle nuts and Barrel nuts mil-spec of course, it would extend the length of the torque wrench to add more length to it which will cause a higher then normal torque setting. Like if you set the torque wrench for 35 foot pounds of torque and you put that hammer on the end of it and it extends it three to four in your going to be pushing close to 50 foot pounds of torque just because of the added length. You might be able to turn it on a 90 degree and get it too displace the exact number of torque pounds stated on the wrench, but with all that stuff on there it may be difficult. Now don't get me wrong I'm not dragging on the ton of research and development they went through to design this kit. Would be an excellent kit for somebody just getting into AR-15s, and M16s for their first time. Can't wait to see some more reviews on how the tools hold up. Cupola cool little gadgets I saw on there that I like. Great review keep up the good work.

Those other 2 pins in your lug lock are to be installed in the flat part (on opposing sides) to set the angle of your lug support in your vise. You can set your barrel to multiple custom angles. Keeps the shaft from dropping or lifting in the jaws.

Looks like a well thought out kit. I have a few things, including the smart vise block, scraper tool, and bore guide, from Real Avid and have been very impressed with quality fit and finish. Thx for your vid showing this kit off.
@TwoStageTrigger4 жыл бұрын
I was switching a barrel over to an a2 receiver. I didn't want to drift out the front sight pins. The real avid wrench won't fit over the front sight. I had to borrow a buddies open ended barrel wrench. Not the kits fault. The only thing the kit is missing is a flat screwdriver for a2 stock screw. Mine also didn't have the bolt catch pin punch. It had two roll pin starter punches. One of them has the hole damaged and won't hold the pin.
@JesseCase4 жыл бұрын
The punches with the nipple are roll pin punches. They are designed to keep you centered as you said, but the main reason that it's important to use them when knocking out roll pins is to keep from deforming and flaring out the end of your roll pin. If you use a regular punch and especially if it's too small you have the risk of it actually going into the center of the roll pin which will flare and oversize the end of it, or possibly even have the punch brake off in the roll pin. Once that happens it can ruin the roll pin and make it extremely hard to remove if not almost impossible without damaging the firearm. They are definitely worth the extra investment.

@echosreloadingchamber73065 жыл бұрын
That tool that you display that had the side cut out of it that's for putting your bolt stop pin in and that allows you to stay away from the receiver while you drive that pin down when the lower receiver is in that one action block where it stands on its nose. And those punches with little tips on them in the center those are roll pin punches. That's a used to align the tool with the pain as you drive it into the receiver.

I bought this for my first build. Cons: The worst thing about this kit is the case. The latches on mine look extremely cheap and the case doesn't really close well (uneven, gaps, etc). The other thing this is lacking is a barrel nut wrench. My cheap Ceratac kit didn't come with a barrel nut tool, but I was able to use the castle nut as a makeshift barrel nut tool, although it did cause some marring to the nut and probably isn't good for the pins on the tool. The final con is the torque wrench. It's cheap and imprecise, but it should be good enough for your first build. I decided to buy another one and it cost about half the price of this kit, so that's probably why they didn't ship with a better one. Pros: The pivot pin tool is awesome, but the footage he showed doesn't do it justice.It literally turned one of the hardest things about the build into one of the easiest. Other than the barrel nut wrench and a flat head screwdriver, this kit has everything you will need to put your AR15 together (unless your pistol grip requires an Allen wrench, then you would need that too).

Will this tool kit be for specific ar 15 or can we use it for ar 10
@rockordnance4 жыл бұрын
Most of the tools can be used for an AR-10 except the vice block will obviously be too small for the magwell. Some of the cut outs in the armorers block may be a bit off too but for the most part you could build an ar10 with the kit. Its a fairly complete kit for the beginer and as you become more accomplished you can add a few thing to make it even better and personalize it to the way you like to build. For instance some guys dont like to use a reaction rod and would rather have a block or clamshell block to hold the upper while installing the barrel. I would add a barrel dimpling tool and probably a tool to face the front of the upper. Again, its a great starting point that will allow you to but together just about any ar.
