I don’t necessarily think this is fair. To use the money as leverage over your partner. You went into the relationship knowing she’s dependent on you financially. If you’re not willing to provide her with something as cheap as a grocery store lotion to prove a point that she can’t get what she wants, that’s degrading. It’s humiliating. I’d understand if she’s expecting Gucci bags and tori Burch flip flops. (Which leads me to, it does depend on the item) but I’d you’re ok with her not working, to provide “shelter and food” keep in mind that she’s not a dog. She’s a human being. Part of taking care and providing her will go beyond shelter and food. Clothing her is part of that providing aspect (just my opinion). If you’re not ok with it, then let her go. Or be honest and tell her she needs to get a job of her own.

What I mean by she’s a human being and not a dog is: a human being, especially a woman requires a little more than just food and a place to sleep and shower.

@@ulovemex33 In the end this relationship is doomed; if you want to take care of your woman financially; go for it, being strict about every item that is being bought will lead to constant fights. At some point things will have to change: she gets a job or she finds a guy that appreciates what she has to offer and doesn't mind taking care with no strings attached. Or he lets down his guard a bit and just gives her an allowance or fixed amount money every week. This is why, it's never good to be overly reliant on your partner financially, because when you argue it's never a fair fight. In this case this woman doesn't just breakup, but she loses her income. In this case the guy believes it's his right to veto or OK all purchases, and really it is his right as it's his money. That being said, if he uses this power in a controlling fashion, eventually she'll leave him and he'll wonder, was it worth not buying that lotion at the store? Thanks for your take, ulovemex33.
