Ostuni-Gallipoli-Monopoli-Polignano a Mare-Fasano-Lecce-Brindisi is my favourite triangle in puglia. Beautiful beaches, great food and drinks all provided by people that know how to live very close to heaven, while firmly rooted to their home soil.

I especially like your videos highlighting Italian markets since it's a country high on my list of retirement options. Perhaps a video on top Italian markets for expat retirees. Howdy from Dallas, Texas.

Nice cities, all. Brindisi was the first Italian city I visited but for me, I prefer places with mountains like on the west side of Italy or in the north, especially if I’m going to live there. I’m curious about the best places to buy in all of Italy. Many have recommended Molise but I don’t know much about how the cities there compare to others throughout Italy. Of course, my favourite city in Italy is Venice but it’s too expensive and has no mountains. Genoa and Liguria in general seem to be the ideal place.

I was born in Mola Di Bari and my name is Oronzo and I never knew where my mother called me that until I started looking at places in Italy to spend a month or two, and for some reason, I was always gravitated to LECCE ,, and this year by searching places to stay a month or two and they’ve come to discovered, though I was named after the patron saint,Saint Oronzo of Lecce

Been bingeing your videos today. They are very nicely done! Been thinking about a pied-a-tierre in Europe for a long time, and lots of these sub-100k euro spots look like fantastic deals. I do have a question about how to pay the local expenses (e.g., monthly apartment fees to the building, utilities, etc.). I know that a lot of foreign banks don't want to deal with US citizens due to the FATCA reporting requirements imposed on them by the US government. That said, is it easy to open a local bank account so I can pay those monthly fees in euros? If not, do you know how us Yanks can accomplish that? (Mostly interested in Bulgaria, or possibly Spain.) A google search says that it's easy for foreigners to open bank accounts in both jurisdictions, but I'm skeptical that this applies to US citizens...
@saveandinvestwithgiorgiolo8375
@saveandinvestwithgiorgiolo8375 Жыл бұрын
Many thanks Marc. The best way to manage this if you are not going to visit a property regularly is through an agent, that said in most jurisdictions you should be able to pay your bills by direct debit relatively easily. As a US citizen you can open open bank accounts in both Spain and Bulgaria.

Lecce doesn't actually have the second largest population in Puglia, it's only the prettiest and the most touristy of the main cities in the region, but Taranto and Foggia have about twice the amount of inhabitants of Lecce and are more like industrial hubs

Nice overview! Did you also consider Mola di Bari? It's sandwiched between Polignano a Mare and Bari, but seems to have lower prices than either city, while being right on the coastline.
@saveandinvestwithgiorgiolo8375
@saveandinvestwithgiorgiolo8375 Жыл бұрын
Many thanks. Mola di Bari was definitely considered as it is only about 25 minutes by train from Bari but I don't think it offers as much as Trani ( a similar train ride away from Bari) and prices are actually similar to Trani. That said it could be easily be in the top 5 for somebody else. Italy has just too many beautiful places.

I really appreciate your perspective in these videos. From a very selfish point of view, could you also rate all these places on two additional categories: quality of passaggiata and average pizza price. I love the videos and it’s pushing my wife and I to buy in Italy. We’re each only one generation from Italy and try to visit each year. My family’s Sicilian, my wife’s Piedmontese and strangely, we adore Apulia. THANK YOU GF

You did not show the true south of Italy. This isn’t nothing and it’s so expensive. People go further down south it is cheaper and much more beautiful. Lecce is beautiful, Otranto, Copertino, Gallipoli and so so many more cities /towns. Trust me don’t go with just ones person’s opinion see it for yourself. Enjoy ❤️

I think Brindisi is the best option and second Bari. Both cities have a harbour but Bari probably is more costly because of the airport. From Brindisi you can take a ferry to Greek islands like Corfu, that takes 6to7 hours. 🤗

I can agree with your choices even if it is difficult to choose only five because almost every village or city in Puglia is very nice. If you are comparing real estate prices with other regions in Italy they are almost underrated. Puglia as a whole region is probably the best of Italy and the whole mediterranen region. For me it has a great potential and prices will go higher in the future for sure. I am looking for a house in Puglia. The only problem is to choose where as I said its beautiful everywhere. Do you agree?

Roberto I agree that Puglia has many amazing places from which to choose and it is very underrated and prices in general are cheap. I think though that perhaps Sicily has the best potential especially cities like Palermo that said Puglia would definitely be in my top three regions in Italy.

Interesting to hear you say that you left Nardò off this list because it’s not quite attractive enough because that was my thought too! When we arrived there on a house hunting trip, on a Sunday, everything shuttered, even restaurants, not a tumbleweed in sight, my husband and I looked at each other and said, “oh my….how quickly can we leave?!” And I’m not sure why, but it is filled to overflowing with expats, willing to pay premium prices for a wheelbarrow’s worth of rubble in the Centro Storico. And many of them have purchased said properties sight unseen!! I don’t get it. 🤷‍♀️
