@@daniel-davidliebenberg9747 I've had DCS since it first came out and have bought several aircraft and flying areas over the years. It doesn't mean that's the only flight simulation I can buy and fly in. I fly in X-Plane 11 and MSFS often as well as the older WWI and WWII stuff. I have enjoyed flying 'games' since the Atari ST (Fighter Bomber) and my first 80386sx PC. I have pretty much owned them all over those many years. I don't agree that DCS is 10x better. People comparing this to DCS, I just want to point out, that while both are flight sims this is trying to find a middle ground between sim and game, whereas DCS is obviously a sim. Obviously this needs to be dumbed down for VR, and the graphics aren’t too taxing, especially when you compare graphics (I know, I said they were different and shouldn’t be compared, but bear with me because I’m talking about graphics here) because I love DCS! I’ve played only about 150 hours on DCS so far and don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic game! But I like VTOL VR because it’s better on my system, doesn’t lag as much and make me nauseous in VR, and makes things easier if I want a more immersive, casual experience. Both are great games!

@iamrocketray2 жыл бұрын
This is a good start but what we need is a proper flight sim made by a team of VR enthusiasts(not just tagged on) with this level of interaction with switches etc But enabling a HOTAS as well if you want one, or 100% VR like this program if that's your bag or you don't own a HOTAS. The pancake version should be the tagged on bit. I'm talking a 5 yr. project with a team of 30 coders etc backed by proper finance. Its not going to happen until VR becomes MORE mainstream.

Tim, if you'd landed in the end that would have been 'cool' - but I think a mishap ending in flaming wreckage and an ejection was so much extra. Should be mandatory for every video :) I've been enjoying the DCS Harrier and even had a former RAF 1 Sqn Harrier and Hawk pilot fly DCS on my rig a few times - which was amazing to see. So I'd dismissed VTOL VR as probably a low-grade 'Ace Combat' level game, but you've really demonstrated there is real depth and challenges possible in it. I'm gonna have to get it now. Maybe the developer will add PBR graphics but currently its kinda cool in the way 'low-fi' music has been. The inside shots and ragdoll animation enhance it greatly and DCS should add the same. Airborne DJ is a checkride everyone needs to sit. Helicopter throttle control in a jet is a serious blasphemy though. I declare an e-sports fatwa against that.
