What an ambitious rework and you made it into an even better tribute piece! The cracked paint techniques took it to another level. Really liked the frame too. As always, thanks for sharing!

Hold the plastic jar up side down and slam(!) the jar LID side DOWN ... that will break the binder's hold that somehow got onto the jar lip under the cap. I'm old Paul (ex-para) and have a heck of a time with acrylic paint jars...the paint chemist showed me that trick.. Love this one as I have an old 3 X 4 foot old mirror and now you gave me a great idea ... well done.

Cheers Ken, I'll definitely be using that trick. Opening that jar showed me how unfit I am. I was knackered after that :D

I use boiling water from the kettle to get the lid off my oil paints. I let them sit for about 30secs to 1 minutes. Softens the gunk binding it on tight.

This is just spectacular.....I used to hand letter store fronts in the early 70s and I would love to learn how to do this.... I think that this is a direct connection to past generations that embraced artistic design into everyday life.....at least I think so....great work really liked this...

Thank you Cliff I really appreciate the kind words :) Your background in hand lettering will serve you very well in reverse glass work! Had you enjoyed the video!

I am delighted with your work. I'm really interested in what software do you use to make labels and which one do you use to cut vinyl?
@happygilder2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much!! I use Photoshop for my designs and Vinylmaster Ltr to cut the vinyl. There's a new online design platform called Kittl that is amazing as well. I did a video on how to use it recently
@airbrushken53392 жыл бұрын
@@happygilder Paul I used corel draw for Vector signs and I think that Kittl is excellent, again thanks for that info on them. I've purchased some fonts and other gear from them also.

Hi Paul, Is there a particluar type of glass you use for your work? If I was going to have a go at this type of work, what should I be looking for from a supplier - type, thickness etc? Many Thanks
@happygilder2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, I use plate (float) glass. 4mm thick for small pieces and 6mm for large. Hope that helps! :)

@@happygilder Wow thanks for such a quick answer - That is very helpful - I have been a subscriber of your for a while now and really enjoy your videos. I have recently just got access to a blaster cabinet at my local hackspace and so have been eager to try these techniques out. Thankyou for your videos and guidance, really appreciated and great viewing!
