What he said about good people who made a mistake had to get animalistic just to survive in that place was actually disturbing. Think about that poor kid who got wrapped up with the wrong crowd, committed a non violent crime like drug running and now you're facing 15 years in that hellhole just because you wanted to get some quick cash for your family Then there were those lifers who were evil before they arrived. Could you imagine when the alarm goes off in the morning and you know you got to pull a 10 hour shift in that f-ing place? No way I could do it for any length of time.

Well said. I know this was not long after the civil war when it opened and many were broke due to that. Confederate money was worthless and people lost everything. All the illnesses out there like TB and smallpox. Fast forward to the Depression. People were starving and dying during all of these pandemics. I feel bad for a lot of these people who had to endure that place. Black and Irish people were treated like trash and had to work the worst of the worst jobs for far much less than others if they were even lucky enough to get hired. I remember seeing way back the signs all over businesses about "no irish or N'ers allowed" as far as just walking into a store. And the ads for hiring in the windows that said "no irish or N'ers need apply" The government and politicians didn't gaf either. How were you supposed to live? A parent will risk anything for their children and family when it comes to their well being. I would! And those poor people were in a place like that with murderous psychotic savages over minor things and never made it out because the wardens and security didn't protect them at all. As far as they were concerned everyone in there was expendable but themselves. The few good hearted caring guards were severely outnumbered. Throwing people in a pitch black hole for months on end. If they weren't crazy before that would have damaged them mentally for life. Yes many deserved their punishment but many of these people that ran this prison were as evil as the people they jailed. I think they purposely placed different races, murderers, rapists, and non violent prisoners together in hoping they'd kill eachother and make their job easier and keep the population down. Guards were too afraid to walk in the Sugar Shack while prisoners were in there but they had no issue throwing a petty thief or someone non violent in there with extremely dangerous people, that had gambling, fighting, killing, and raping, and they wouldn't go in there for fear for their lives to help anyone. They only went in after it was cleared. That right there screams that they were an unfit establishment.

It was somewhat common up until the late 80s for an innocent 18 yo kid to go to jail for marijuana and get raped.

I worked in a prison for 6 years 6 months and 5 days and yes I counted every day. It was so stressful. And extremely violent scary. And yes haunted.

The ESTES METHOD was what made me watch this all over again. I have to say that is probably the most relevant and scariest ones I've ever heard in my life. Dave was getting a little aggressive vocally and wasn't liking Jason near him. That entity, remembered you and wanted more. But it said "I'm sorry" I hope you guys cleansed after you left here. I think that thing is a demon pretending like it was trying to make amends and waiting for you to let your guards down. Spirits and entities know Steve is the easiest one to contact because he's a sensitive and THANK GOD he had the sense of mind to ask that question or that night may have turned out much differently. Sometimes I really think watching it the second time is better because you think things out a bit after seeing it and going back after a few days and watching again you can make sense of stuff you didn't understand the first time. This was beyond amazing!!

Protective Custody Abandonment: that click to me sounds like when you have a pocket knife and open it. I carry one and that noise is pretty much exactly what I hear when I open mine. I actually paused this the first time I watched and went and grabbed my pocket knife to experiment on the sound. I love abandonment, idk what made y'all think of doing this but its brilliant. It's like they're all walking around checking out what is going on. Those crazy prisoners are probably still in there stuck together fighting like hell in the afterlife. People that mean don't change and if they're all stuck there it's probably pretty much like it was when they were living and breathing in prison. They all have their clicks. I think a lot of those bangs are them fighting like hell on the other side.

I don't know what he was like prior to his tenure at WVP, but he didn't seem like a bitter or negative soul at all, although he must have major PTSD and depression, possibly anxiety. It was very courageous of him to give those interviews and guest investigate. He didn't seem comfortable recounting some of those horrific experiences, but he did state that some of the inmates were decent people who had made mistakes and served their time without making trouble. At least he was able to keep sight of that despite the preponderance of loathsome and deranged prisoners and corruption among his fellow employees. During the Live Chat one of the boys said that Chuck is fascinated by the paranormal, so at least he was able to deal with something that sent other guards literally running for the hills while on duty. I hope he was at least paid a decent wage and has a pension. We love you, Chuck! Keep on keepin' on! 👻🖤

That place is so fking scary. I have to rank this on the top 3 of haunted prisons. Actually I give it the #1 spot for most haunted, evil, demons, whatever! Its there. The whole time you're in there it feels like something is pushing your shoulders and chest down. People often have taken what seems like the same demon home with them and they have to get it unattached. It can be at the prison and with certain people it picks at the same time. I've heard so many different people talk about this thing they take home and the personality and form this thing takes on are identical. People years apart even decades describe the same solid black shadow figure with the yellow eyes. I think that land was cursed before the prison was even built by looking up the history. Stay safe guys.

22:17 right after spirit box said "smoke" there was an anomaly that came from the top of screen down towards Chuck right side. After it disappears the spirit box says "that was me" . So interesting. Maybe voice said that because he touched Chuck.
