Awesome video. Kudos to Becky. She was a great tour guide. I have to say I enjoy the way you film, making sure we see what you see but also you are thoughtful and take time to focus on signs and writing(on the wall) etc so we can stop the vid and read. You’ve done this on other places you’ve filmed. This was my first virtual tour of a prison. Very interesting. Thought I heard things but I’m in Denver, not home so I’ll have to pull out my noise cancelling headphones when I get home and listen again. Parts of this tour were as eerie as the San Quintin tour I was able to go on. Thanks Kevin for a job well done. If you ever contact Becky be sure to tell her how much her tour was enjoyed by this fan.

Great video! A private tour from a great tour guide. Thank you for adding in text where you heard something. I didn't have headphones, so skipped back every time to listen for things closer. I would not be able to he locked in that cell. My heart rate picked up just seeing you locked in it! The clang of the door locking was so final!

Ok, to me, in the large rooms, walking thru the second time, it seemed to have a lot of ambient noise, like a cocktail party, no clear voices, but talking. But maybe that's just me, I did listen with headphones.

If you are ever around West Virginia's northern panhandle I highly recommend visiting the West Virginia State Penitentiary. I've been on two different tours and am planning on going again. Each tour guide gives a slightly different tour. My first tour was with Chuck Ghent, a former correction officer at the penitentiary. My second tour about a year later was with C.J. Plopper, an author of several books on the penitentiary. The Grave Creek Mound is also across the street from the penitentiary and the Palace of Gold is about 25 minutes away.

My uncle was a prisoner there at 17 years old he said he would die before ever going back was on run his entire life Dan Hall I’m 69 and was young girl and prison was open and sold crafts prisoners had made the wall was built by prisoners
