I'm not surprised the fireproof glass held up. It's meant to withstand hotter temperatures than the dull orange glow the lava was emitting (~800-1000 degrees celcius.)

Not really mind blowing just science, the fire resistant glass is just normal glass with an insulation layer and then another layer of glass. It is not unlike bullet resistant glass in that the first few layers are sacrificial, and for this fire resistant glass the first layer resists as long as it can blocking as much heat as it can then fails and then the gel filling blocks the heat from getting to the final layer of glass

Problem with windows is, most are attached to something less fire resistant. Also heat is not the only concern, with lava it is the weight and force at which it is traveling
