As a woman who survived a narcissistic mother, you better believe they are THIS EXHAUSTING 24/7. It never gets better. I am on year 6 of no contact. Secondly, they have this insane warped schema of how they perceive the world. They obsessively assign thoughts and feelings to other people, and once they decide they know what you think, no evidence to the contrary can budge their preconceived conclusion. Although wasn't it technically the lawyer that filed to withdraw, not Sarah Boone directly asking for new representation? I can't remember with 100% certainty but if the attorney is claiming they can't work together because Sarah won't accept the lawyers version of her defense and the trust has been broken then I'm not sure the judge can in good faith force them to work together indefinitely. Granted in this particular instance the judge may be more inclined to push the issue since it is lawyer #8 & the trial really needs to get going.

Can a lawyer argue what she wants within limits and go on record saying it's against the advice of counsel? She doesn't want fair representation. She wants a cheer leader to shout her brilliance through a megaphone. She zipped him in the bag, and he died there. We know this. So what other defense is there, but "why?" A jury has to decide based on the evidence presented. She's crazy enough to believe she's sane, so she's probably not willing to be evaluated or to accept any diagnosis that might help her case. She doesn't understand that a lawyer can't argue that her actions didn't kill him just because she didn't think he would die. She's accurately charged with 2nd degree murder. It doesn't have to be intentional, just dangerous to human life by someone with a depraved mind. There's a recording of her mocking him while he begs to be let out. That's depravity.

If she was out on bail, stalling would make sense. If she was facing the death penalty, maybe stalling would make sense. But she’s sitting in jail; and if she’d let someone effectively defend her, I bet a decent lawyer could get her some form of manslaughter where I think the max is 15 years … and if she really cooperated with that lawyer and showed some remorse, most likely less than 15 years. She’s already been in jail 4 years. She’s just stalling herself into a 2nd degree murder conviction and a life sentence.

EVEN IF she could walk free and all she had to do was stonewall at trial, let the prosecution make their case without her engaging at all… she still wouldn’t be able to help herself from some outburst in the court. She is unwilling to hear what the facts are, just as she was when confronted with the recording she made. She’d rather write 1000 letters than have that mirror held up and be forced to look. It’s callous and cowardly. My heart goes out to Jorge’s family and I hope they are able to find some peace in the knowledge that we all see her as they do, which may just be the most fitting punishment for the type of person she is.

I agree and honestly I’d be happy if he gave her a final warning. What I DONT want is for her to rapidly be forced into anything then she loses and appeals, and wins on appeal. So I’d accept “you have one more chance with a new lawyer and if that doesn’t work for you you will have the option to rep yourself but whatever the case you will not receive a new lawyer so work it out”. I say this because she has never been given an ultimatum so I am afraid that if the judge doesn’t do that and give her one more shot, that she will win on appeal. And that might be her goal because she KNOWS she’s going to be found guilty.

I think the problem is that she wants an attorney who will help her pin it on George. Like, it’s all his fault he got in the suitcase and she never really meant to kill him so it’s his fault. I believe she figured out a couple years ago how to set up for a “future” appeal by the time she goes to trial. She ditches every lawyer and consistently writes the judges to complain about them. She definitely makes sure to include specific words/sentences regarding the judicial system, even going so far as to state law. This makes it look like she isn’t going to get a fair trial and that’s a big deal... Making sure everyone gets effective counsel and a fair trial. Obviously, she’s been studying law a lot since she’s been in jail and learning the game. She probably thinks she could do a better job, but knows better than to say she “wants” to represent herself.

My former SIL did the same to her first 7 lawyers before #8 helped her get what she wanted - to avoid any jail time for attempted unaliving of my brother despite loads of documentation of her DV. (The judge described his injuries as “horrific”.) After her sentencing of mental evaluation, substance abuse evaluation, and probation, she had the nerve to stand at the lectern and accuse my cancer-ridden brother (who was very ill at the time of the incident and passed 7 mos later), of coming after her instead! Our family went thru years of h€ll over it. I pity the family of Boone’s boyfriend. She will never admit she did anything wrong and continually point the finger at him for “causing” her to walk away from him that night. Sorry, Sarah, 3 fingers are pointing back at yourself.

Peter you and i are in the same page. She only JUST received the first notice from the last judge so she is KINDA on notice right now. If this new judge comes down hard and insists she keeps this lawyer, I think she can easily win on appeal. The court needs to take the right STEPS and get everything on record, which they started doing last time this happened. So we are on our way but not quite there to a hard ultimatum of “take this lawyer or rep yourself”. I think one final STRONG warning is necessary and one more lawyer and then if she dies this again it’s AFTER that warning. The court MUST keep their side of the street 100% clean and that means documentation and notice. I’d argue that if he does this, the court date should remain (if that’s possible).
