For instance, one of the first thing he pointed out was how Asher couldn't be an intern for a Chief Justice. What Legal Eagle does not know, is that Asher is the son of a federal judge. Things get like that no matter what profession you're in. Mind you, I just laugh and move on when I see "acid" eating through concrete. For those interested: about the only thing I know of that can wreck concrete that bad, that fast, is chlorine trifluoride...which would ignite said concrete, burn it like wood, and produce clouds of gaseous hydrofluoric acid as a bonus. Hydrofluoric acid passes through most things, including skin and latex, and goes straight to attacking your bones. And that's assuming you don't breath it in and get your lungs melted for your trouble. Basically, it results in a painful, prolonged screaming death for anyone in range of the "smoke" it produces. Not fun! You can probably see why a certain German dictator from the 1940's was considering using it in anti-bunker shells. Never did use it, though. Thankfully.

Same with the students, hugely diverse, not narcissists & genuinely caring about the job, but all for different reasons

I 100% agree with you, I was just saying that the entire show is basically about how she ruins her core student's lives and only wins cases by breaking the law instead of employing actual legal strategies. In fact, the show even goes out of it's way to show what a bad mentor she is by showing the core character's grades to be in the bottom 20% (or something I don't remember the exact figure) because they are so busy at her practice all the time but not actually learning anything.

@moviemaker19866 жыл бұрын
No, assumption means taking without much or any proof that a thing is true. Speculation means prior thinking or meditating on a subject before making a guess. Essentially, speculation means putting more logic or research behind an assumption. Still, both words deal with personal guesses, so the word "probably" gives no preference toward either term. I can't know how much evidence gathering and logic Legal Eagle used to support his claim that non lawyers wouldn't find that particular bit interesting, but unless you personally helped him craft this episode, neither can you. :) But from the time given to that guess (the single line and then dropped), I'm going with "assumption" as the correct term. Speculation would probably have more time devoted to it, or else why use logic or do research and not share it? Assumption is still the best term here. Objection sustained! 😂😂😂

As a law student, I SERIOUSLY enjoyed your reaction. I still watch the show (for the incredible acting), but man, the inaccuracies always make me either laugh or cringe
@jo88956 жыл бұрын
Thank you for doing this! I never could understand the concept behind the show: if you really wanted to focus on this teacher dragging students into her practice, why do it with first years who have literally no knowledge or any experience? Why not just do the same thing but with last years? What sense does it make for law students on their FIRST DAY to be treated like they should already know everything about the law and be capable of practicing it? That always just baffled me so much I couldn't stand watching it

If they had a class of about 12 3L students, it would be much more realistic.
@fstorm26 жыл бұрын
Not a defense more of a clarification but you do realize they do that in anime because you're most likely talking about shonen anime which is target towards a younger demographic. So of course they'll have characters that their viewers are going to relate to more. Gundam Wing is a big offender of this, they had people that were in high military positions that were barely in their early 20's

So they can milk the series for seasons. Starting with year 3 also leaves little room for character development and events. Which this sort of "glamour drama" shows will do in the most shallow manner (offcourse).

I think the combination of you as a lawyer doing this and the show showing what it shows is art. As a show they obviously can’t spend the time to explain all of the legal concepts so as an audience we just have to assume they’re right however you as a lawyer are explaining to us the legal concepts because that’s what you do on your platform. So it really makes sense, as an art form, that they do not explain the legal side of things even though they’re in a classroom. And it’s really great that there’s someone like you explaining the legal side on the Internet

Yes true, one of my favorite shows. It is one of the shows who will keep you glued throughout each episode due to the fast track screenplay and suspenseful flashbacks. And I am more interested in the characters in the show rather than how they handle the cases.

The requirement that every student must present a different defense is not realistic with hundreds of students. What is the last one supposed to plead? That the victim was, in fact, a chicken and that the killing of poultry is no criminal offense, maybe? At least no one else is going to propose pleading that...

I did : 9:50 - The woman clearly says "each of you" when talking to, at the very least, a few dozen of people. Furthermore, I am not commenting in a comment section for that specific scene but under a video made by Legal Eagle who, himself, declared at 9:22 that there are "literally hundreds of people". Last, but not least, you may not have realized that you were answering to what was basically a joke and even if I really had been incorrect about the facts you could still have decided to shut the hell up instead of answering something irrelevant, fractious and stupid.

I know its intended to make the professor look like a prodigy of law practice, but the simple fact that she shanghaied a bunch of know-nothing first year law students into her WITNESS INTERVIEW for a trial she has in TWO DAYS makes it seem like this crazy lady actually has no idea what she's doing and she's bringing her class on board to pick and poach their brains about ideas that she can't think of on her own and to have a scapegoat if the trial doesn't go her way.
