Glad to see you've got your pool up and running, it's been a life saver for us this summer! Seeing the girls on their day out was excellent. Lynne got all nostalgic for when she started riding!

Nothing's wrong with your basement. Structure absolutely fine. BEAUITIFUL home and excellent life. I'll loan you my BEAST kitties when I get over there as they drag entire rats/bunnies/etc. home at the drop of a hat in the springtime. I call it the "Silence of the Bunnies" in the spring. Horrible, albeit useful with a rat infestation. (P.S. I digging out a rotting floor in my bath now...lesson learned: MOISTURE BARRIER...) Don't tear out the whole thing...just rotted area, people. I've got a client with new house who had the same problem. Don't TEAR IT ALL OUT! Just the rotted part.

Hi guys, we moved to Bulgaria from Germany on December 2023 and bought an old house in nord east 45 kilometers from the coast and the city of Varna, we renovated all the house and just finishing now, if you want to come to this part to visit the area and the coast send me a message, would be nice to meet you and go around, we are a mix couple (italian/bulgarian) so could help you with the burocracy( if you need); we searched for long time an house and we think cheaper part of Bulgaria is the nord near the romanian border, who would like to find a good deal can find there (varna region/ruse region/dobrich region/shumen region) have a nice day and welcome to Bulgaria.

Depend on the residency status. As a Bulgarian I even have some free procedures with dentist (and you know here you don’t have to wait as long as in Uk) anyway, when u done ur maybe it was before Brexit? I think it matter as a friend of mine - American citizen living in Bulgaria always pay a lot (compared to me) but for him it’s still cheap compared to what he use to bay back in the US xd

Always keep some clove oil :) For the tooth ache. Just don't lick it. Doesn't look a big job really, but yet more fussing. Had a let down on a house, it was perfect for what we wanted, but paid a local to take a look around and they found my fear, and so on to the next. house.... Counting down the weeks... How are you guys doing with water? I hear a lot of water protests have happened..

Our village has no water restrictions, so we are fine for water. I gave Anthony cloves and clove oil mixed with coconut oil for his gums. It's the best!

Yeah that dentist you went to robbed you. The price for such a thing in Sofia is like half of what you paid. 150 is usually the price for a tooth extraction. Cleaning the root canals, putting temporary filling, then removing it and putting permanent filling + fixing the tooth would come at maximum 200, likely less.

I am shocked by the cost of the x-ray and root canal! I’m really glad you got it sorted out quickly and that the price didn’t finish you. A root canal here starts around $1800 CAD - your treatment was around $240! Tomorrow my cat goes in for dental surgery. He will need extractions. The estimate for that is between $2600 and $3500 CAD! If i have any money left over, I will definitely donate and put my name on it this time

For many Bulgarians living abroad it’s actually cheaper to buy a plane ticket and do their teeth here in Bulgaria than going to a dentist abroad. And that’s what many of them actually do.

You got dry rot.need cutting out any of the seriously bad bits and treat the rest with dry rot chemical before you replace any wood. If not any new woods just going to rot. Need to get some ventilation down there just to get some fresh air in and out aswell

I love how literally everyone in Bulgaria feels happy and relieved when it rains there, whereas here in the UK it's very depressing indeed. Interesting about the concrete over the wooden floors in your bathroom. Our house has wooden flooring upstairs and we want to put in a bathroom, not sure what we're going to do but we're not thinking of concreting over the boards. Will be interesting to see what you do about your bathroom floor. It can be such hard work in BG some days, but the rewards can be so overwhelming happy and amazing.

Yes, I agree! Rain here is so wonderful. And I agree about the bathroom. I hate concrete with a passion. We will be putting in a shower tray, but with two unruly toddlers running around, concreting the floor and tiling is our only option with all the water! Hope you guys are getting on well with your project too!
@NewBulgarians

@@the_phoenixproject I hope you will film the project on the floor on the bathroom, as we're keen to know how it will work - we're thinking to board over the boards with a waterproof board then a waterproof laminate perhaps, but really unsure. Either way, we don't want to have to rip up the floorboards. We're not getting very far as being in the UK we can't do a lot, which is very frustrating as we just want to get on and do it, but at least we can research and learn lots beforehand.

Not a good idea and it's actually illegal in Bulgaria to do so because too many fatal accidents where houses collapsing after putting concrete floors in houses originally designed to have timber frame floors. Don't do it!
