The Coastguard Helicopter was requested to help rescue an injured walker with a fractured ankle. The team responded to Edale and walked to Grindsbrook Clough and the edge of Kinder Scout. The team's Paramedic was first on scene and administered advanced first aid, which involved pain relieve. Due to the severity of the injury and the location, Buxton Mountain Rescue with the assistance of Edale Mountain Rescue called for the Coastguard Helicopter, Rescue 912 from Hull.
As the Sikorsky S92 helicopter approached, a flare was ignited to guide the Helicopter to the casualties location. The helicopters paramedic was winched down the casualty site to prepare the casualty to be lifted onto the helicopter. The immense downwash from the rota blades made for a windy evacuation which was aided by team members holding a hi-line to recent the winchman and casualty from spinning whilst ascending.
It takes over £50,000 to cover all of the costs to keep the team operational. The money is made up from public donations and grants. If you’d like to contribute and make a donation please feel free to click on the link below.
