And soooo costly. Just because someone 'can' make something, doesn't mean it will see production. The U.S government already has the ability to equip every single one of it's soldiers in LV4+ armor from head to toe, with a helmet capable of all the things this video listed. They could have literal unstoppable men in fuckin mini-mech suits casually walking into enemy lines and would have very few casualties (only from explosives or a round somehow sneaking into a vital area). But they don't. And likely never will. Because that shit is expensive as fuck. So instead you equip your ground troops and infantry with pretty good armor, and tech, but stop there. You give your best and most sophisticated shit to the people who are trained on it, and the most capable to succeed with it. There absolutely are MFers out there running around in some hi-tech fuck you Tarkov loadout, that are damn near un-killable.

Funny thing is that it was doable with late 90's tech(not early 80's, when programs like this and FLW ran), but it weighs a ton and costs like 500k-1kk to equip one soldier. The only conflict where government would justify such equipment prices is if Monaco fought Switzerland😅

As cool as it is, i can see why thos was abandoned The thing about advanced suits of armor is that they utterly suck ass in terms of cost and practicality. The money spent on one suit can probably be better used on a group of normal soldiers or cover most of the cost of creating a tank, the former being more effective than one soldier in a tin can and the latter having more firepower and survivability. Theres also the part where thats way too many precious equipment for one soldier. A hud display, radar, enough weapons for a small squad, and even ground to air defenses? Youre just making the poor sod equipped with this armor a shiny priority target

@@aoooso6000 I don't think that revolver MG thing is really old school, was a really cool solution to the cartridges not being loaded fast enough problem IMO Also I think it will need a bolt like thing moving really fast after each burst to push every round into the barrel (and if we are talking the optimal design in it's IRL meaning, a mag with an autoloader style thing will do better IG) if I get the idea correctly Also I like this idea, had a concept of compact high-power autocannon for a Cosmoteer-like game that would fire 5 rounds and slowly passively reload after bursts, allowing firing the currently loaded shells at any time

Yeah, old (50's) design of a "soldier of the atomic era" armor was even funnier on multiple levels. First, it got BDSM-looking soft facemask with removable flap that covered the nose (so, presumably, you could stick your nose out of the mask to look like a complete dunce.) As for the weapon, it got M14 rifle and we all know how it turned out to be the service rifle with the shortest service life (was phased out early during Vietnam war.)

Instead of using plastic or brass as a case, the entire case is made up of gunpowder. It is possible to make gunpowder hard enough, that it can function as casing. Then you just insert the projectile in the middle of the gunpowder and glue a primer to the bottom. The cool thing about caseless ammunition, is that it fundamentally changes how a rifle works. Pretty much every rifle or gun you can think of, requires a way to extract spent casings. Caseless ammo is burned up inside the rifle, primer and projectile leaving the barrel, meaning there is nothing to extract, at all. It also creates a challenge with overheating, since brass cases are good at capturing heat from the explosion, and then taking that heat with it when being extracted. Caseless ammo doesn't do that, unfortunately. The reason this hasn't caught on yet, is because the chemically hardened cases, aren't as solid, or considered as reliable as regular brass casings. However, companies like Textron have had great success with plastic casings, lowering the weight of ammo by as much as 40%. True Velocity also had some 3D printed casings, lowering the weight by around 30%, and apparently the 3D printing process meant they could optimize the design of the casing, meaning faster velocities despite being less weight and the same size as a regular brass version. But the world of Caseless Ammunition hasn't seen much innovation, that I'm aware of, since West Germany was building a new rifle for their army. But that was before the fall of the Berlin Wall. If you're interested in Caseless Ammunition and its many challenges, I suggest you look up "G11". Many youtubers have made videos on it, Forgotten Weapons especially has some awesome info on it, even showcasing its strange mechanics. Also, all of this was off the top of my head, so might be wrong in some parts. Have a good day.
