Since he makes a living doing this, if he does kill a battery, it's a business expense. 😉 I also imagine his batteries stand a better chance of dying in a crash than from old age, unless he doesn't crash much any more, even when working out some of the newest sick moves he's coming up with. It's like the quad has become an extension of his body! 😎
@Mateo-FPV5 жыл бұрын
@@ledchickenfpv7164 of course, pro pilots sacrifice even drones for good shot, so one battery is irrelevant. But after some battery care videos I started feel so guilty when landing at 3,5V :D
@ledchickenfpv71645 жыл бұрын
@@Mateo-FPV I hear ya, I used to be a fanatic about returning any unused whoop batteries to storage voltage ASAP after coming back from races and would only charge them within hours of the event. Then I thought about the cost of the time I was spending and I talked to a guy who really knows his stuff on the Firebeard channel on Discord who said that there's a lot of exaggeration on the subject of returning batteries to storage voltage, and pointed out that constant charging and discharging might actually degrade performance more than leaving batteries charged. So far, I'm not seeing any differences between the batteries stored "properly" and the ones I've left fully charges for extended periods. I realize we were talking about over discharging, not storage, but it's another aspect of battery maintenance, so not completely off topic. I do definitely believe that discharging past a certain point is detrimental to the life of a LiPo, but I think there's probably a little hype involved too. If the battery goes a bit below 3.75V/cell in flight but recovers somewhere close to that after a couple minutes rest, I'm inclined to think I'm not causing much, if any, additional damage beyond the normal degradation of putting charge/discharge cycles on it. In my experience, and the way I fly, my whoop batteries tend to recover a good 0.3V - 0.4V after a short rest, so I don't worry too much about flying to an indicated 3.3V or so. All that said, for expensive multi cell batteries, I plan to be a lot more conscientious about treating them as kindly as possible, but my experience with whoop batteries seems to confirm that LiPos oaren't quite as fragile as the hype would have us all believe.
