Basically, GoGo Nippon was a visual novel game published by MangaGamers, and to help promote the game, MangaGamer hired those two, gave the two vtuber models for promotions (Because vtuber fad was on the rise) But GoGoNippon ended up getting a dedicated cult following and people cared more about the actual vtubers then the actual game. In the end, the promotion ended, GGN wasn't making much profit (They were still small so) so the GGN project got canceled and they graduated. So to sum it, up, those two were hired by MangaGamer to be Vtubers as small corpo.

Fuwawa (as Makoto) made a major change, she sounds even more like a normal sweet girl in the debut stream. Like Bae though, she realized that most people (not me though) prefer whacky "unique" voices so her voice gradually changed over the years. At the time of their graduation, Makoto's voice sounds much more like Fuwawa's, but she still made a pretty noticeable change going from Makoto to Fuwawa. Mococo (Akira) sounds more normal during their debut as well but she has always had a funny adorable childish voice so she didn't need to change much.
