Is it true that troilite is a definite sign it's a meteorite if a rock is cut open?

No. Troilite can be found as a native mineral on Earth but is more abundant in meteorites.

@@TopherspinMeteorites thanks for the reply. I meant as patches. I have just found what meteorite hunters call a "strewn field" and I filled my pockets as all the fragments are on the surface, and do I just soak them in WD-40... Drop me a postal address and when it's verified I'll send a piece for your collection. I'm in North East England so not sure how common Meteorite finds here are.

@@nixonsmateruby1 I appreciate the enthusiasm and the efforts of hunting. I really hope you have something too. But, it doesn't sound right to me at all. As you can imagine I get TONS of these requests. My company does offer a paid service complete with geologist summary. But, there is a free option that is quicker. If you read ANY description to ANY of my KZbin videos, you will see my advice with links to load QUALITY pictures of a SINGLE sample at a time. Best of luck!

A very odd alien-looking object at 3:53 (unclassified - Oriented - NWA Iron) with a cushion shape & crimped edges. How could this occur naturally on entry to Earth's atmosphere ? One for Avi Loeb to consider ?

*** You have previously been blocked from contacting us on Facebook Business Messenger. *** THINGS PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME: First, everything I show as a meteorite is backed by a $500 reward it ANYONE can prove it is not a meteorite. Over the years, nobody has ever tried to claim this reward. I don't listen to the uneducated people trying to tell me their erroneous opinions. I listen to experts that have dedicated their lives to meteorite science. I don't have to be told to be nice to people asking for help. I do have a problem with people that just think that they are OWED any of my time. They get demanding, send me dozens of pictures after I ask them to stop, then they curse me out, tell me how little I know (even though they came to me as an expert) - finally they leave a negative review of my company on several platforms that I sell on. (without ever really conducting business with my company) I HATE THESE SCUMBAGS!!!! If you ask me: People should educate the rockhounds to show WAY MORE respect when asking for free services from a for-profit company that has already said "NO" three times. Respect is a two-way street. I am WAY MORE professional than just about everyone that contacts me. About your rocks (potential meteorites) a simple $400 classification service will give you the answer 100%, get the meteorites added to the MetBull, and all your weird mystery can disappear. There are no secrets in science when done properly. You are not finding 10 a day!

I have the same almost exact looking rock that you are displaying. I thought it was magnetite 🧲, from a huge Caldera, a Super Caldera! I also have a huge 50 lb specimen from the same exact field as well. Nomenclature: (9 mi. Caldera)- location, San Gabriels The actual estimated size by scientists of the area in question is approximately 15km by 10 km wide. @2:22 on the video, yes, I have one exactly like that! Please list the Geology department number for Caltech. Thanks!
@TopherspinMeteorites5 ай бұрын
I don't have that number, it's probably available on Google search. If you want a rock identification service done by me, it cost $25 a month as a patreon supporter. Due to the thousands of requests I get I can only spend time helping those people who financially support me.
