Hello everyone, welcome to my channel! Today, I’m going to show you what rural life is like in Zunyi, Guizhou, China. Daily life in Guizhou's countryside is rich with local characteristics and rustic charm, showcasing a blend of tradition and modernity. Typical daily activities include feeding poultry, digging and cultivating land, planting crops, repairing houses, and making handicrafts.
Guizhou’s landscape is primarily mountainous and hilly, with scattered farmlands. Farmers mainly grow traditional crops such as rice, corn, potatoes, and chili peppers. Economic crops like tea, tobacco, medicinal herbs, and vegetables are also widely cultivated. Rural houses in Guizhou are often built along hillsides, with common architectural styles including wooden stilt houses, stone houses, and mud-brick houses. These structures are well-suited to Guizhou’s humid and rainy climate and reflect the cultural heritage of the local ethnic groups. Villages are often surrounded by small streams or natural springs, creating a peaceful and picturesque environment.
With the implementation of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization policies, some areas have seen the integration of traditional dwellings with modern brick houses, leading to improved living conditions. Similar to many rural areas across China, Guizhou's countryside has a large number of migrant workers leaving for cities, resulting in villages being primarily inhabited by the elderly and children. Elderly residents usually take care of the household and farmland, while children attend rural schools, living a relatively simple life.
In recent years, thanks to government support, the conditions in rural schools have improved, and greater attention has been given to the care and education of left-behind children. Modernization is accelerating in Guizhou’s rural areas, with widespread access to electricity, running water, and the internet. In some regions, modern agricultural technology and eco-tourism projects have been introduced. Although life still moves at a slower pace, improved infrastructure has made rural life more convenient than ever.
