My Grandmother was born in 1883 in Antigo Wisconsin, she taught school at age 16 on the Lac Du Flambeau reservation. Her father owned a store nearby. She married well and they became wealthy before the great depression. They sold their properties in Illinois and Indiana and bought a farm when the depression hit. She died in 1980 not long after her 97th birthday. Imagine the history and progress she witnessed. She was a Danish blonde, and still had more blonde than silver in her long hair always done up in a bun at the back of her head. A tragic fall ended her life, she was still writing poetry about nature at that time. She told me a lot about her early life. These are things she saw in person. She was an elegant lady.

My grandmother, born in 1892 was fascinated with the West. Read everything she could. Sadly, never to visit out there from Boston area. I too love the history
