It was in '94 in WCW when they met, they stayed friends after "Jean-Paul Levesque" jumped ship and became "Hunter Hearst Helmsley"; this story is from around '95, which is why Hunter started using the Pedigree within around a month of his debut, and the early Cutter finish is a trivia point for videos like this; they just used a famous '97 Nitro Diamond Cutter clip here to illustrate the point...

Jon Moxley/Dean ambrose has used a better version of the dirty deeds/paradigm shift outside of his time in WWE. In regards to Cena telling Tyler Reks that he needed to stop using the burning hammer, one of the things thats never talked about is that happened not too long before Brock Lesnar made his return to the company. Arguably at a time where the only people aware of brocks return would be the top brass and the top talent that would be working with him when he first came back. I would argue that the burning hammer as Reks would deliver it (which usually saw his opponent flipped over and land in a DDT like position as opposed as the traditional death valler driver) looked more like an F5 than the AA.

From all we know, Cena is a good guy, and saying something petty like that to a new guy, when he himself started doing the FU to mock Brock Lesnar's F5, and also poached the Code Red, the STF, the Fameasser and the Blue Thunder Driver over the course of his career, would be such a cunt-move that it feels out of character for him. I think he just generally believed that the move was too dangerous for a green guy and that he would hurt somebody with it sooner or later. That's still patronizing, but it feels more like something John would do.
