The same model was applied in many countries in the eastern bloc. As an older priest told me, it was the only way for the church to survive in communist times. He doesn't consider it wrong that he collaborated with the Securitate and likely got many people in serious trouble because it was the only way for him to keep his job. He happens to live in one of the fanciest houses in the village and drives a G-Klasse. Also, there was recently a pretty big scandal in Romania when it came out that an official document was destroyed. A document showing that the current patriarch was a Foreign Intelligence Service colonel. Thankfully, at least the previous patriarch left so much evidence (including openly congratulating the dictator for killing protesters) that it is impossible to hide what scum he was. Keeping with Byzantine tradition - there's few institutions in the world that are more corrupt than orthodox churches.

Besides the fact that the Ukrainian Church appeared much earlier than the Moscow Church, moreover, the Moscow Church was founded arbitrarily by decree of the Moscow Tsar and for a long time did not have any legal status from the Patriarch of Constantinople until the Muscovites decided to forcibly kidnap the Patriarch of Constantinople and force him to sign under torture recognition of them as a patriarchate. At the same time, the Ukrainian Church received its statute officially and directly from the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

In 1997, Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate in the city of Noginsk, Moscow region, was captured by a hundred fighters of the riot police unit and handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Speaking of research I have been trying to validate the existence of a close relative who I was told as a child was an elected representative for his region to the Kerensky Duma from eastern Ukraine region probably somewhere near Donbas, but cannot find any reference outside of the dozen or so major secretaries and have no known living relatives that would aid me. All I know was he and most of the family was executed or left to starve during the Holdomor for resisting collectivization of his farm. It is now a given that anyone whom Tuckums interviews is as bent as he is himself. He had a producer (?) at Fox a few years ago who was fired for racist, bigoted, sexist behaviour or statements, an all-round jerk. Since Tuckums was sacked from Fox for costing the company billions in court costs I wonder if he has rehired the jerk to help him out with play dates, and inane questions that allow the worst answers. Carlson is not a journalist, he’s not a good conversationalist, he’s not even good at propaganda. But he has been a reliable conservative of the worst sort for decades now, back when he wore bow ties. Kirill was KGB in St Pete’s with Putin, back in the day. Dubbed "Tobacco Metropolitan" for his profiteering off of duty-free cigarettes, which he’s been involved with since the dissolution on the Soviet Union. Carlson is the tip of the iceberg. As a Christian conservative myself I find it nearly impossible to find among my peers a single one that hasn't swallowed the Russian bait and fully digested it. Even in my own family to the point I really have to question myself. But then I can't dismiss my research which began years before the current slaughter of innocent Ukrainian lives. And when my in depth study is made to fellow believers who mostly cannot locate Ukraine on a map, an indifferent shrug followed by moral equivalence has become the standard, which is partially why America won' t know what hit it once pondered among smoking ruins.

Hi Yaroslav! The part about the ROC being disgusting wasn't convincing. Such cases that you quote are probably isolated and also probably happen here and there in all Christian churches. I'm saying it as a Christian - unfortunately everywhere you could find some (usually small percentage of) ministers that are a disgrace to Christ and His Church. For everything else - thank you! And I'd love to know more about how the Moscow church blackmailed the partriarch of Constantinople to be raised to a status of patriarchate - what documents we have that prove that? Tucker is an agitator. Originally, and for some time, he spoke about the Ukrainian government 'persecuting Christians' leaving the impression "all" Christians were included. I think a large percentage of his audience is religious. He is sly in his use of language. Plus, he usually twists his facial expressions into a contemptuous look and speaks in a snide tone. This subtly and infectuosly works on the viewer's emotions. I used to watch his show, but I had to record and watch the next day. His show came on 8 o'clock at night. If I watched it then, I often became too worked up to sleep. It was his outrageous attacks on Ukraine that opened my eyes. He personifies the whole country of Ukraine in attacks on Zalenskyy individually and villifies him as some kind of crook. Transference. He's a bad man.

Ukraine can not defend itself from this horrific, illegal invasion without infusions of weapons from its friends in 'The West'. These infusions are approved by democratic governments who are steered by their citizenry. So influencing the citizenry of democratic countries is a force multiplier. No matter how many Ukrainians are in trenches, they are less effective if they do not have weapons. Or russia could just go home.
