But for the same price I get a smaller case that can fit into pocket, better call quality, water resistant, wireless charging, better iOS integration and to me, better noise cancellation. Again this come to personal preference, if you are a Hi-Fi listener Sony does sound a little bit better but why would you choose a wireless earphone in the first place if your priority is sound quality. (Wired headphone provides much much better sound quality)

I wish i could sell my WF-1000XM3 and buy airpods instead. I love Sony sound signature so much, but newest update 2.0.2 broke my WF-1000XM3, so much stuttering, basically useless. Better Assistance: Sony - (they actually a person telling you the modes unlike Apple) Sound Quality: Sony (Much better sound quality with Highs and Lows, richer Bass as well unlike Apple with medium capabilities for the price.) Size and comfort for long periods: Apple (Much smaller than the Sonys case and actual headphone size) Duration of usage: Sony ( 2x more hours for the Sony, if not more depending how you use them) Call Quality: Apple ( Apple are superior in Call quality in noisy surroundings compared to Sony, Probably Apples best feature) Active Noise Cancelling: Sony is much better but Apple does alright but not well for their pricetag) Customizable options including App Exp: Sony (Superior because of the customizable options but Apple still connects better if you use it with an iphone of course) EBPMAN made an amazing detailed review and I'm just posting my comparison using both products my self with his experience in his review and I agree literally with everything he's saying. I personally think Airpods Pro aren't worth that pricetag for just call quality, comfort and faster connection with an iphone only BUT I can see why people might want them.

Alex Karthik i found apples anc much much better than Sony’s for some reasons. I took them both in planes and I found apples filter way more noise than Sony’s. Maybe I used the wrong size tip on the Sony’s? Also apples transparency is much much better than Sony’s. When I turn on transparency mode on the apples it feels like I don’t wear anything in my ears, compared to the weird digital sounds from any other in ear headphones that provides ambient mode

apple‘s anc is better and you can even see it in the video. ebpman thinks sony‘s anc is better because of more functions. this certainly doesn‘t make the anc better when sony‘s does filter less noise than apple‘s. and the battery life is clearly ridiculous. if 5 whole hours isn‘t enough for your consume standards, then you really need to seek a healthier lifestyle. the charge is far more important in my opinion which you didn‘t mention by the way. apple provides two hours of listening, which is of course longer than sony‘s thus apple being the winner with battery

Alex Karthik I wouldn’t agree about better assistance. The voice assistant is so annoying. You are watching a video, and instead of it you hear “low battery, please recharge headset”. So you need to rewind a video 5-10sec back. It happens to me almost every day, since I am a heavy user. Same when you change noice cancelling mode during watching a video or listening to music. Additionally to that, Sony is randomly disconnecting from MacBook. It’s super annoying for this price tag, especially if it happens few times per day. And yeah, they are heavy. I don’t have big ears, so they fall out no matter which bud tips I chose.

I’ve got the Sony’s. They sound amazing, but are a bit bulky and can fall out pretty easily. I keep pushing and twisting them a lot during use. The lack of water- and sweat resistance is a big minus in my opinion. I’m getting the AirPods Pro as they feel very complete for all situations.

In the Sony app, under Sound Quality Mode, you should change the Sound Priority setting from "priority stable connection" to "priority sound quality" and then redo the call quality comparison. I have never needed it set on stable stable connction and can walk ~100ft from my phone.

Be careful! The call quality is soo bad even after updated firmware! Indoor calls are acceptable but when you are outdoor, the other person cannot hear anything that you are saying. They can only hear the heightened background noise. It's sooo annoying and I wish they have better software to compensate for it.

Good review and comparison. I, as I have, would go for the Sony. Earbuds experience is for the user (music quality a most, ANC superb, battery life, app handling and configuration). Call quality goes to the one that is not using the earbuds. I would like for the XM3 to be better at this, but they are good enough to take and make calls. I would not sacrifice my experience (again sound, anc, battery, etc) for my counterpart's in a phone call.

I personally think the airpod is very decent(and I'm not even an apple fan trust me). Allow me to explain. Comfort is a big thing with ear buds. Fit well also is important, so that sound won't leak as you talk or eat and ear buds starts to slip away from ears bit by bit. Phone call quality is soo important when you do them alot with these, so you don't have to yell in a noisy environment. Honestly if I want better noise cancellation or music quality, I'd go with some Bose over the head headphones. But well I only got 50 bucks to spare so why am I here..

For anyone wondering, I def recommend the Apple Pros. I don't get the Sony hype. I bought both to try. The Sonys are not that comfortable and don't sound that great in my opinion. They stick out of your ears. I also don't like how the Sonys voice prompts sound. The Pros are super comfortable and the noise cancelling is amazing. It literally cancels out the noise from my fridge, fan, and A/C. Wow. I wish the Pro's had USB C instead of lighting but I'll just be using my wireless charger anyway. If you like the sound of the Sony's that's cool but what's the point if you can feel them there because they are sticking out of your ears. The Pros make you forget you are wearing them. One of my favorite things about the Pros are being able to lay my head down and still have earbuds in!

Summary: Sony has superior noise cancelation, audio quality with more battery life. Apple has superior mic quality for phone calls while being much more comfortable with a smaller case and water/dust resistance. Depends what you wanna do using them. Never forget that you can get the Sony's for 100$ cheaper than the Airpods pro now.

Went with AirPods Pro, simply because of the call quality. Nothing even come close for calls. Even the old ones were better than anything else out on the market for calls. I need earbuds to listen to music while traveling and taking calls. For airplane use, I have Sony MX3 over ears. Between these two, I have all circumstances covered...well other than audiophile listening at home, but that’s a whole other story 😉

I have gone through 2 sets of AirPods and now have the Sony WF1000xm3. As far as case size goes, the Sony is fine. If you’ve ever washed your AirPods because you didn’t detect them in a pocket, you will not mind a bit of bulk of the Sony case. The Sonys also pair and switch devices much easier than the AirPods I have used (not the new or pro versions). Both Sony and AirPods are about equally comfortable. Call quality in a noisy environment for the WF1000xm3 is poor. Even outside in a moderate breeze, I have to discontinue using the Sony and use the phone directly.

I decided to try the Sonys after the battery capacity seemed to diminish after about 2 years with both sets of AirPods. My use of the AirPods was daily for 3 or so hours total. I generally used the left or right individually. After about 2 years they would run out of battery charge in about an hour. The right bud on my first pair quit working altogether. I miss Siri with the Sonys.

Lol I already knew i wanted the Sony's but this just cemented that even further. Personally i dont use ear buds for phone calls anyways, but I'll admit Air pods sounds vastly superior in that regard. Also I'm using WH-1000M3s to listen to this video.

Apparently they just released a firmware for the Sonys that immensely improve the call quality. I'm guessing they had some aggressive noise reduction before. I'll find out in a couple of days how it is once mine comes in.

airpod call better from your test. I would go with Sony. But none ip (sweat & dust) is a HUGE issue. Would be curious to know if somebody used the Sony in a harsh environment.

Bob Rewkowski they all work on Android as far as I know. What are you wanting to know exactly? The most thing that will be different is the application that reads the Air pods battery ect. but I never use that anyway even on the Apple side. The other thing that might not work so well is the switching of what the left and right holds will do (no Siri). I’m sure android will have an app for that though.

I returned the AirPods and got the Sony. With AirPods it connects rapidly on my iphone, holds great on ears, case is very convenient, problem is it hurts my ears. Sony is very slow on Bluetooth connection, bulky case and inconvenient for active workout as it falls easily. I should’ve I kept the AirPods.

To be honest I like it way better that the Airpods only make a beep when changing to ANC. I just hate it when I hear a voice slowly telling me what just happened. I mean it's not like you won't notice that you just turned ANC on or off anyway.

Because I have a high quality wired headphone, and I need more an all-arounder for on the go / sometimes gym / running, etc I think I am going with Airpods Pro. if I only had 1 headset at all? I'd probably go sony for the improve sound quality. at least in comparison to my hd600, they are not near as good (and I'm not a complete audiophile)

Just what I needed! Recently bought and returned the new AirPod pros but the “pod” hurt my outer ear too much. It looks like the shape on the Sony’s will work much better for me so I’m going to give them a shot. Funny because I didn’t have much interest in ANC until I got the pros.

great overall review but I could tell the sony bias almost immediately when you say something good about the airpods you say "but" but for the 101 bad things about the sony you also say " as if a slight advantage in sound quality could make up the terrible mic and non existant water resistance. at $220 the last thing I want is a heavy earbud that will die if a rain drop hits it in the right spot and good luck running with those staying in. you get 11 hrs battery life but you have to take them out to have a good phone call and with that weight youll never leave it in for 8 hours either. great review but the bias was showing a littlebit

I had them for like 8 months still do but I had a huge problem with having to keep pushing them in my ear every 10 min. The airpod pro I don't have to worry at all. So comfy and I can't believe he said transparency mode is equal lol the airpods kill it in that category.

Had AirPods Pro for a week and returned them because the call quality was just terrible in noisy environments. I found many others on the internet had the same experience; it seems to be a pretty widespread problem that Apple has not yet solved. Strange.

I just bought the AirPods this morning actually. I already have the iPhone 11 pro and an Apple Watch so I’m sticking with this. Plus since I will be using these specifically for work, I need call quality to be great. I’m sure the music part is sufficient but I can’t deal with how bad the Sony call quality is. Plus the apple ones just look nicer to me 🤷‍♀️ and apple had free engraving, so I got them engraved too

That's all they have tho, how can you choose call quality over music quality, you aren't buying earphone's for the whole purpose of call quality, if you want good call quality then littlerly press the button that makes it go through the call speaker and you can still have your airpods in and connect same as with the Sony's

I use my earbuds for consultation calls all the time but I'm always in a quiet room. The only time I'm using earbuds in a noisy environment is when I'm at the gym. I don't want to talk to anyone that I'm working out anyway. Sony for me.

I've had the Sonys. One of them spent 10 mins 8 ft deep in my pool. Blew it out let it dry for a day works great ever since 3 months after. But man that apple call quality lol!

really, i just got the sonys, and i am scared to use them outdoors (incase there is rain) or in a hot or humid room, such as the bathroom. Since on their website they said that the sonys are not even splash proof and it is recommended to not wear them when you are sweaty etc

I went with the Sony's, had them for one year now and no regrets. Ear fatigue after long listening I agree with but I pop them out, back in a couple minuets later and no issues. Noise cancelation is brilliant, I work in a sales team, always have music on the highest volume in the cars, I pop these in around 70% volume and the only way I can tell there's music playing in my surroundings is cause of the cars Bass. They need to improve on call quality, that's the sony's down point in my experience, if your in a dead silent room with no other noise you're fine, anything beyond that it is an issue. However, in terms of sound quality, battery life, adjustability, connection quality, hands down I would recommend these ten times over.

Right so first of all I want to say this review was outstanding. I subscribed within the first minute! But the people saying they are buying both are confusing me a little. Some people are saying they wear the AirPods Pros for calls and the Sony’s for music. Sounds like too much work to me…swapping and changing all the time. Like if I’m at the train station then I will have the Sony’s on for better sound and noise cancellation when listening to music. But then what if I randomly get a phone call? I’m not going to put the person on hold whilst I swap my ear pods out. Tbh I only wear them when I listen to music which is practically every single day. I’m not the sort of person that would walk around with them in if I’m not playing music. I know so many people that wear them for most of the day, even when they aren’t listening to anything. I just don’t see the point! I run and cycle a lot and I like the sleek more premium look to the air pod pros which is why I have just ordered those.

I had both , first sony’s and now AirPods, and I’m happy that I switched. I mean, the Sony music quality was a bit better but no big deal, what I didn’t like from them it’s like for example, when you are wearing them , noise cancellation on or of , in a windy day , you will hear all the wind from the outside, with AirPods not, when it’s raining, if you have your hoodie on and it gets a bit wet will start messing around with the “touch” sensor or even if u press your shoulder on your ear it will pause the song and stuff, with AirPods not. I like to use them at work, but when somebody wanted to talk to me, I had to take the Sony’s off because even without music was hard to understand everything, on the airpods the transparency mode is something amazing, its even louder then without them on .. love it and for iPhones u don’t need an app and all the controls are fast and easy.

I only got 1hr and 15 minutes. I even took them back to Best Buy and got a new pair of Sony. Still getting only 1hr 15 min. I took them back and got iPod pro. Crazy, I like the sound of Sony. I’m testing iPod. Getting more time. The NC is great. Changing functions on the iPod pro is easier. Sony on changing functions would make it fall out of my ear.

I was originally going for the xm3's due to the superior sound quality and my lack of an iphone to take advantage of the features having one with the airpod pros, but after watching this it's shown me that 1. The sound quality although might not be surperior will still be AMAZING and barely noticeable, and I prioritize comfortability and wear and tear, as well as size more than sound, so I'll be going for the airpod pros. I just want the one that’s more comfortable, I’ve had a pair of wireless earbuds ($50 JLabs) that were a similar shape like the Sony’s and they were the most uncomfortable earbuds I have ever used and constantly fell out. That makes me really hesitant to go with them, plus I already have an iPhone so going with Airpods just makes sense for me.
