UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 2022 - CFMOTO HAVE AN ECU UPDATE!!! Yep, it seems CFMoto have listened to the feedback and reviews (would they have seen my video I wonder? 🤣), and have an 'over air remap' for the bike, which reports say solves the issue perfectly! Fair play CF Moto!!
So, my first test of a brand new bike! I would have loved to have mounted the GoPro on my helmet, but unfortunately I was using the bike companies helmet, so had to stick with the chest harness instead.
Very interesting bike, I enjoyed it a lot - apart from two 'small' issues, which you may here me mention once or twice!
A couple of other videos in edit as we speak, but please give it a LIKE, SHARE and/or SUBSCRIBE if you like it, and hopefully I can get a lot more on the cards! Cheers!

Sir, I really liked your test, it was definitely not the usual boring stuff :) Said so, and apart from my crappy English, I am another happy owner of this bike. I have to report two things: 1 - that bike brakes must have some sort of issue, cause mine really work great and I am a 1,93 m 120 Kg guy who's been riding for a good 30 years now. This bike brakes are good. 2 - The fueling thing is a known issue, and it was recently discovered by an Australian guy, that it is due to a wrong positioning of the air filter. Some bikes need the filter taken out and put into position again (5 minutes task) because it allows air leaking in some conditions (especially at low rpms) and that confuses the EFI ECU. Also, it seems that the bike has some sort of electronic protection till 1000 Kms, that limits the engine performance, especially during rapid acceleration and over 6500 rpms. So if you had fun now, be sure that according to all the owners who drove more than 3000-4000 Km, it changes to an even better bike. Said so, I am reeally happy with the product that fits my needs and as you said, it has a tremendous value. Last but not least, with its stock tyres I can confirm, it is better to stay away from any kind of off road path, but on tarmac they are really good... Thank you again for your competent and entertaining feedback, have fun and drive safe :) Cheers!

Loved your review, I'm actually looking to buy one. I have met a bloke that had one, he said the fueling is a mapping issue and he had it dinoed and remapped and that fixed it, he said breaks were good but he puts braided lines on all his bikes. He put knobbys on his but still found off road it's adequate but not good. He said on road its amazing.

Here in Australia the importer has developed their own ECU & map that gets it close to 95% better with the fuelling issue. The brakes must be pad material because it has braided lines. Maybe the master cylinder needs new fluid through it?🤔 Have sold lots in Australia. Thanks for your review ✅

Ok, can you elaborate on the brake issue, is it that they lack initial feel or bite, are they just not strong enough? The fueling issue it seems could be simply rectified i suppose, but not knowing when it comes on or off, makes it a bit difficult to understand. I suppose I would not compare this to a KTM or BMW, but rather against a Vstrom or KLR 650 or similar bikes. All of them are shocking when it comes to some items but have other qualities that endear them to riders. After watching this I would give it a test ride and see how it feels. I would feel better about the chance of dropping this off road as opposed to the much more expensive KTM. You would have more money left over to replace parts that may be lacking like brake lines or pads or even master cylinders. Most modern bikes have too many electronics so I do not mind if it has less than others! Good review mate.
@GarryMcGovern
@GarryMcGovern 2 жыл бұрын
This has as many - if not more - electronics than any of it's more expensive 'rivals' like the KTM Adventure 890 or Tiger 900, but considering it's been released in the UK with a MUCH higher price tag than was originally stated, it no longer has any benefits over those too: for the extra few hundred quid, I'd go one of them two, for as good as this bike was - it wasn't as good as them! Cheers. 😉

Loving your 'absolute nonsense' Garry. I've done over 4,000kms on my 800mt and would absolutely agree that the fueling is hideous. The emergency stop that happens on the merest of throttle roll-off has nearly killed me a few times. My brakes, however, are fine. They did take a while to bed in, and the back brake isn't the fiercest, but it's probably where it needs to be for offroad riding. And I've had no excessive play with the gear selector, that you suffered. All in all it's been a top bike so far.
@GarryMcGovern
@GarryMcGovern 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Seth. It is a great bike, and when I tested a new Tenere 700 the next day (editing as we speak!!), I actually say it in that review of how I enjoyed the 800MT, and that the more I thought of it afterwards, the more I enjoyed it!! In fairness, I probably was pushing those brakes a bit more than the designers were expecting, but having ridden an Adventure 890 and Tiger 800 (haven't ridden the 900 yet or the Beemer 900), I know they could have been better. Having said that, maybe different pads and braided hoses would solve the issue, I mean, Brembo must have seen something in the company! And I guess the quickshifter issue was just me being really thorough in my overall appraisal, and as I'm more used to a quickshifter on sport/race bikes, it's probably something I could adjust to, because my god did I have a laugh on that bike! I think I did about 230-240km in total (and which you can see from the video, wasn't ridden like Miss Daisy!), so without a doubt you have a top bike there my man, a brilliant piece of kit....... they just need to do something about the sidestand! 🤣 Enjoy my man, and cheers for the honest feedback - still trying to work out what the hell I'm doing!! 🤣

Nice one Garry, honest review, AND putting yer money where yer mouth is....Respect! Were the brakes shite like? Were they just soft no feel or no power? Such a shame for what could be a relatively good package?
@GarryMcGovern
@GarryMcGovern 2 жыл бұрын
Mostly sheer lack of power, as it's not a light bike, so had a fair amount of mass to haul back. Now as I said in the video, I fully accept that the vast majority of owners will never ride it like I did, but as it has an absolute stormer of an engine with fantastic suspension - with those amazing roads, I honestly couldn't help myself! So I just thought it was a pity, that as a bike that could really hustle like a Supermoto if you really wanted to (showing the sheer breadth of talent the bike had) the brakes were such a weak link that didn't let you ride like as much of a hooligan as the rest of the bike will let you. Now, it was a brand new bike, literally only registered that week, so 'maybe' it needed more time for the pads to bed in (though I did do about 230km on it), or maybe a change to braided hoses and a different set of pads would solve it. But some people have been giving me grief for saying it, saying 'they' don't have a problem with theirs. But I don't know how they want me to reply: if you're riding it nice and easy, using it for touring or long distances, enjoying the surroundings and scenery, then yeah, you probably won't ever test the outer extremes of the brakes, and so won't have a problem with them. But the fact is, that bike is more than capable of tackling fast roads and twisty corners easily with a stupid grin on your face, so if you ARE the type of rider who likes all the touring aspect, but every now and again want to let your hooligan side out, then yeah, I think it's important that people know that, seeing as having ridden a KTM Adventure and a Triumph Tiger (I've not ridden a BMW GS900 yet), I know both those bikes have the brakes to match their power and suspension. I dunno, I can only give my honest opinion based on my own experiences of it: I've been riding well over 30 years, raced everything from 400's to 1000cc Superbikes, and am currently an actual track instructor here at Mondello Park in Ireland (as well as personally owning 9 bikes myself in the garage, from a 71 Bonneville to a Panigale S!): but I guess sometimes people find honesty offensive - though fortunately the vast majority so far have appreciated it!! 😉 Cheers my man!!

Ignore those who say "Oh the brakes on mine are fine" I heard similar from others reviewers, who are obviously part of the white knuckle brigade. Owning a ZZR 1400 I understand the importance of one/two fingers at the most stopping power. OK it's got Brembo's but even my FZ1-S with its Nissin's does the same, all finger controlled, No ABS....No B.S. Sport mode. Not sure what you mean about 'adv not a tenere'. As for other videos - I've never watched any other review videos of this bike, and I wouldn't base my opinions on what others say anyway: this was my experience of the bike, and I can only say it as I see it. Granted, as I say in the video, it's doubtful the average buyer of this bike would be riding it the way I did, so they may never see where the limits are on the brakes, and it may only need a pad upgrade or braided lines. But brand new, out of the box - I can only give my own personal, honest opinion on it (which I think is clear WAS actually overwhelmingly positive!), and considering how capable the bike was on the road with such a great engine and suspension, it's a pity the brakes couldn't match them. But this is only my opinion on it - people may not agree, but at least I'm 100% honest. Cheers!

I have heard other reviews saying that the mapping is out of whack I hope they can fix the fuelling. As for the side stand, there have een a few new bikes with shitty side stands for example the new klr. But you would think that a bike that markets it self on as a mid range touring bike. They'd be grand around town or normal riding, they just showed themselves up as shite when I as really pushing on. Granted, the bike isn't really designed for that sort of riding, but it was a pity as the bike was so capable of it. I reckon braided hoses and a better set of pads would help immensely, though seeing as CFMoto have greatly increased the price of this bike in the UK since I reviewed this - I'd head towards Triumph or KTM instead now, as it no longer has it's price tag as it's USP (though there still may be a massive difference in Oz, so that may not be relevant to you guys). I lived in Oz for years, and though you say 'no matter how far you ride, you're still in Australia'..... there's still as much diversity in Oz than the whole of Europe, and I bloody loved it there!!! 😉

IF you don't ride it on the roads as hard as I did, then my frustration with the brakes won't be of concern to you, but overall, I would find it VERY hard justifying spending the extra £2500-£3000 on one of the other bikes, even taking that in to account. this is a very capable and well featured bike for so little money. this is how the Japanese and Koreans did it, now its the Chinese.

Without wishing to be pedantic, the Japanese innovated and the Chinese copied. I see no innovation.

@@ianross225 no, of course not. I should have understood the opposite of what you've wrote. tell me, is that the Chinese, Martian, or English way of written communication?

How strange, everything wrong with this bike?, I saw more than 20 tests and none says all this, so I must assume that he is not being honest, Cf mot has shown an excellent balance between price and quality, also mounts components known as j juan , bosh, kayaba, etc. of which almost everyone thinks very well, but if for you it is not, I'm sorry but your opinions lack support.

I complained about everything and was 'biased'? Huh? How could I be 'biased'?? Judging by your comment above buddy, it is clearly YOU who are biased, and are upset that I dared to complain about ANYTHING on this bike! I complained about TWO things: the brakes and the fuelling, and CLEARLY said the bike was excellent in every other aspect. I said it many times how much I enjoyed riding the bike and even said at the end I would buy one - if the brakes were sorted. I don't care about any other review on this bike and never watched any other video as I don't care about anyone else's opinion only mine. So grow up son and stop acting like a child: CF Moto didn't pay me or give me the bike for free like other testers, I actually PAID to rent this bike myself from my own money, so NO way could I be influenced, like those other testers who were probably too afraid to say anything bad as they wouldn't be given a bike again. You ignored EVERYTHING positive I said on this bike, and just focussed on two things: and because you have some sort of weird fixation on this manufacturer, you refuse to listen to honest, UNBIASED critique on the bike: Pathetic.
