That one guy nailed it. We've seen this over and over again. Mom and pop campgrounds getting bought up by big corporations and jacking up the rates big time. When we first started 10 years ago you could get a very nice campground or rv resort for $32 a night. Now there over $50 and most of them even higher near $75 a night.

When I first started it was 2 dollars a night to camp back in 77 now 45 years later I'm paying 5 dollars a night and I still want it cheaper because all I use is a space , aka boondock , because I don't need hook ups or water , I go in my towed for purified water for 68 cents for 5 gallons and I'm on the beach in baja Cal. If you want the same deal please let me know and I can hook you up so you can save some money so that you can afford to stay at resorts that charge a mint .lol

I don't stay in a lot of campgrounds but I'm going cross country now and have been astonished at the high cost of campgrounds. COE camps are $30! They were free when I started 7 years ago! And state parks are high too. And VERY crowded, even after labor day. A lot of changes in the7 years I've been on the road.

The RV tech had it the most right. the social media hotness of "RV Lifestyle" is winding down after a glut of youtube/insta lifestylers turned it into business. all the new people are encountering the costs of the whole deal - rising prices, reservations, etc plus the whole effort involved in the activity - from moving, set up/tear down, repairs/maintenance - the bloom is coming off the rose. Other travel is becoming more and more common and people are realizing that continuing to pay that monthly nut (loan, upkeep, storage) on the unit isnt really cheaper than taking a trip via airline or cruise. Also the cheaper units are aging. That 2019 low end trailer is now 3 years into a 5 year lifespan. So I think there will be a hefty influx of used units that people just want to get out from under. Meanwhile manufacturers are going to see a lot of friction in sales - they have dramatically raised prices to take advantage of the market, without actually adding much value. I dont think its going to be a sudden fall off a cliff - I think this winter will be a bellwether. and by the fall of 2023 manufacturers and dealers will be working against a current of distaste for the price:value ratio and a deepening market of 2-3 year old used units.

I own a 2011 Roadtrek Adventurous diesel camper van with solar panels and battle born batteries. I bought my van used 6 years ago before the demand/prices went up. I am a widowed, retired, full-time RVer. I love it! I had motorhome before but with my van I can drive it almost anywhere and am happy with less "stuff" as I do boondocking, saving money, and travel across the U.S. For future RV owners/buyers: Owning a new Class B camper van will not decrease in value as a trailer, fifth wheel or motorhome would. If you can live with less "stuff" in your life, a camper van will save you a lot of money, so you can travel more.

Wow you have a lot going on!!! I recently discovered your channel and am really glad that I did! We recently upgraded from a hybrid travel trailer to a NTU 2019 travel trailer…I know, small potatoes compared to what y’all deal with, but we are loving it and looking forward to less set up work. We are not new campers, having camped since the 80s. Hubby retires in December. Next year we will have so much more flexibility and can see our baby grandson more, plus the other 3! We will definitely be conservative on travel and look forward to camping in one place longer. I’m hoping that we can find some places to volunteer in our journeys. One of our destinations for 2023, is Michigan!! God bless you two, Paul and Peggy

Hi Mike and Jen, wish you good luck selling your home and with purchase of land in Michigan. Here’s an idea you may be considering, live in your 5th wheel while your home is being constructed. Leave your furnishings in a storage container on site. My cousins did this and it worked great for them. My husband and I and our dog, just returned from a 6 night camping trip in our class B van, we stayed at 2 campgrounds and 1 Harvest Host. I have learned that less is more and we can make do with less stuff. In the coming weeks and year, we will be traveling to state campgrounds and Harvest Hosts about 500 - 1000 miles away from our home base and family. We can’t change the economy and no one knows how many years we have to enjoy our retirement together. Carpe diem!

I think there will be less RV’ers selling their homes to go full time, keeping their home base and maybe going for trips on a little longer time frame. Uncertainty of the economy, age, health, and family will no doubt play into those decisions. Circumstances change and along with that so do attitudes about a home base vs. going all in full time. But, no doubt people are still going to explore and travel when they can.

I pray all of this BS about TRANSHUMANISM, and chips in our brains is false, or we are able to stand up for humanity. First we have to make friends, play with others peacefully. We've all lost touch with each other, and they are using this against us. I NEVER, EVER COMPLY, OR NEGOCIATE WITH SOCIOPATHS, AND CRIMINALS. I plan on getting a RV. The pull alongs are going down in price. While the motorhomes are sky rocketing in price. Problem is I'm a nurse. Quit healthcare field due to extremely large targets on our backs. I wore a large outside garbage bag for PPE s. Got covid. Forced to work while my fascist witch boss went to Cancun same time as criminal Ted Cruz. I'm ready to retire, but the fascist political party wants to take our medicare, and SS away ,and privatize it. My brother lives in a nice RV in a RV dealership just off a major Hwy. 3 RVs stolen in the last month there. He said that a truck pulled into the RV private sites, and hooked up to a brand new RV, and booked it. People should count their blessings, stay put, and ride with a caravan for protection from hooligans, and evil sociopaths looking for easy prey. Always be very aware of your surroundings. PEACE.

The summary of my comment is: I don't have a crystal ball. I have had my Winnebago Adventurer 33 foot motorhome for 17 years ... fortunate purchase when I was new and knew nothing. I say fortunate as it has fit my travel style for a long time, is set up for all weather (I prefer Fall-Winter-early Spring travel). I am now 67, still working, but have been a self-employed software developer (contract programmer) for 37 years and work from home (stick and/or rv home) all of that time. I've travelled months at a time (7 mths longest) as well as overnight/weekend and everything in between. All these years, I have been based in NW Montana (grew up in Ohio). At this point, I have been thinking of downsizing as I want to travel only in the Pacific Northwest US or Canadian Southwest ... shorter trips that would be easier in something nimbler. I have also thought about selling my house which thanks to COVID and a lot of people wanting to move where I live ... is worth ... well, anyway it would add significantly to the coffers. I also want to move to a less busy (less $$) area for a home base. All of the above to say that one day, while walking my dog in my woods with all of the what ifs rolling around in my head ... I realized: I do not have a crystal ball!! I can dither 'till the cows come home and ultimately, neither I nor any of the economic experts really KNOW how things will go so my job is to decide where I want my home base and what RV I want for travel ... a lot of the details are beyond my control. So, for myself, I have taken worrying about selling high and buying low out of the equation for both decisions. (***edited for typos :) )

@@kimberleesmith2703 ok so my plans are first to make ten pads. And then I like to make a lazy river and a pool. And I like to set up a community building bit has a concept of showers washrooms with one for handicap access. Then a coin OP area with a TV and tables with AC. It will have cameras to make sure no one uses it offensively. The sewers I been thinking is it easyer to have a service truck come true? But in the future build RV covered areas. With full plug ins and then add a rest area of common grounds like a patio and a BBQ area with an outdoor kitchen and a bathroom with showers. And all not too far from a big city like San Antonio texas. Say 20 miles outside of town. So you can got play in town sometimes but after shopping and enjoying your day/Evenings you are neer home.

I think so many purchased RV's in the past two years that the ones who want them already have them and the ones who found out they don't enjoy the lifestyle will sell them in the next couple years unfortunately the price of the rv's went up so much that buying used is a better bargain. If you're still working and camping part time the cost of gas and inflation really isn't affecting whether you travel or not as will still have the income coming in and rving is still the cheapest way to vacation and get away.

To the nurse: I get all this dreaming and life is short rhetoric. I've been researching and looking at rv's for five years now. I completely advise not to purchase an RV. Yes the costs to purchase a rig and accessories are high but its the terrible quality that turned me off. You need to understand that these people making these videos "have money". They can afford it. I'm going to travel the country as well but stay in hotels and motels; no worries, no expensive warranties, tire monitoring kits and broken refrigerators. Not to mention the six week waiting list to take your RV to get repaired. This is my opinion and I've worked very hard to save so I can enjoy retirement as well. Spend your money, don't waste it.

Some people don't have the choice of staying in hotels to live. Many people try to live in hotels but the prices are daily and aren't worth it or worse. RVs is the last option before living in a regular car, tent, or on the street. Just because the quality isn't House quality doesn't mean it isn't good enough to stay in. ALSO if you're looking for quality you should go with monocoque, or fiberglass shells for an RV. RVs have come a long way since you probably were looking and the quality on some aren't as bad as you make it seem. Air stream, wingamm, winnebago, etc just to name a few have nice well made RV and class Bs. I recommend looking into them.

@@meme13100 Yes, if it is choice between living out a car or an rv, then an rv would be a good choice. But I am referring to the people who want to travel for pleasure. Big mistake to purchase. Also, last time I checked, Airstreams are big bucks. These people are not living out of their cars. Received an article today from RV Travel today saying that one in 6 rv's are "out of action" waiting for repairs. If you want to wake up in the forest, rent a cabin.

Have you checked out the rv trailers that Europeans put out. They put our rv’s to shame with both price and quality workmanship! The problem with Americans, is that we’ve been brainwashed to accept subpar products and services in this country for far too long. Until we stop catering to these companies, it’ll be business as usual!

@@prestomattwine Amen to that,,, I just returned from a months travel in Europe, and I did notice a few rigs boondocking on coastal landscapes. They are compact, functional, and built well. But,,,,,, your travel locations are very limited.

I retire in 3 1/2 years. Buying a small B+, 21-23 feet. Obviously in my line of work I know the value of time. We’re leaving then. I think the Rv world will crash in the next 1-2 years. Then stabilize out and I’m hoping for a good deal when we buy. Going to live a minimal lifestyle.

People seem too complacent. We are in a recession now and will deepen 2023...Its about cost and availability of fuel.......cost of insurances and maintenance....besides cost of food & life's necessities Just because people retire with income, they seem to be asleep at the switch..

Many handicapable people are traveling. It's called living their life! It's the demented RVers that go into debt buying a $100+k rigs that go to cramped in trailer parks and sit in their rig watchin tv all day & complain and blame the kids playing too loud, politics & their own 💰 problems that are truely disabled.

I believe RV prices will tank. I plan to buy that 180k Class C for 99k. A year or two, I'm in no hurry. By the way, prices are high because demand is high. The economy is red hot. You guys have good problems.

A recording tip - If I may: When 2 people are being recorded, PLEASE refrain from both talking at the same time. There are other RV video channels I don't watch because they talk over each other. Another tip: When you Title/Caption a video - GET TO THE POINT! I stopped watching this video a 7 1/2 minutes because you have not yet gotten to the titled point.

What exactly is a “real RVer”? I guess you’re not a real RVer unless you have a KZbin channel telling others how to RV.
