lol That's because that part of Johannesburg is Lagos and Kinshasa all rolled into one. You're not bound to find many Europeans. (For that matter, most locals don't set foot there either. @brot62384 жыл бұрын
@@theturbo1958 Yes Lagos is Nigeria and Kinshasa is the capital of the Congo. Lagos & Kinshasa are largely informal in terms of business and infrastructure. The part of Joburg in the video used to be the main financial district decades ago, but has been largely left to immigrant businesses & residents from the entirety of the African continent and south East Asia. That's why he intuitively feels at 4:28 that the place is well built, but feels disorganized. That would be because it has been largely abandoned by local business for decades. *In fact a lot of the tall buildings are completely empty inside.* And the immigrant businesses on the streets are essentially emulating patterns of disorganization of "Lagos and Kinshasa". Johannesburg has multiple business areas spread out across a vast area in different neighbourhoods. It's one of the reasons it has so many malls and business parks. So the locals don't have to go to the old City Center any longer to shop. It hasn't fulfilled that function for decades.
