In regards to the Star Wars fight, that clip cut the moment the padawan threw his lightsaber to stop the sith's attack with his lightsaber. This also distracts the sith giving the jedi master the opportunity to finish the fight.

Yo, I just watched a 15yo, 5min, star wars fan film fight scene: Ryan vs Dorkman 2 (I stopped watching the 1st one cuz of reverse grip ☠️, but the sequel doesn’t have any). Id also love it if ya’ll blind react to it. Theres so much good, but also some… Star Wars bs 😂, Idk if its exemplary or cringey.

You have to remember that there were multiple different schools (both of thought and in training) of smallsword use. English, French, and Northern Italian schools did not use and did not encourage the use of finger rings on smallswords. Southern Italian schools did have functional finger rings and did encourage their use; finger rings do offer exceptional point control after all. Although it is still odd that a movie about French men would feature smallswords with what appear to be functional rather than vestigial rings. Earlier smallswords would also have had functional cutting, rapier-style blades (albeit shorter than what you would find on an actual rapier).

Couldn't the production of force lightning just be too big an effort to easily use the sword besides that (unlike a dagger, a _light_ sidearm, which you can use to just create an opening)? Force lightning always felt very powerful and impactful, like something that needs constant attention from the one who has to defend against it while the one producing it was pretty much occupied with doing that; if your lightning is blocked you are to some extent caught up in this, so it's like being equipped with a longsword and a polearm: you're not duel-wielding that effectively. This changes the dynamic of such a situation - the defending side is not as much weaker than the attacker as one might have expected from such a purely defensive maneuver, and might actually be in control at the moment - but this suits what we see in the prequels where Mace Windu blocks the force lightning and while doing so manages to overpower Sidious. Edit: also, in this scene it looks as if the Sith was struggling to move his sword while producing force lightning to meet the pressure from his opponent.
@lucasgamezz140
@lucasgamezz140 24 күн бұрын
Yes, actually. In lore IIRC the reason why lightsaber duels last so long is because the combattants are using a slight amount of force clairvoyance. Use any other force ability beside that, and that gets a lot harder
@xCorvus7x
@xCorvus7x 24 күн бұрын
@@lucasgamezz140 That, too. I was actually rather thinking of physical exertion, though, since Sith using force lightning always have a strained expression on their faces.

I love the Killer Bee fight! xD He‘s the kinda guy too who didn’t train this style cuz it’s viable but because he thought it’s cool and so he MADE it viable, because superhuman ninja can just do that if they train hard enough. xD Also, never watched Zorro, genuinely blown away by the fight (tho it lasted a little too long for me lol).

If they're going to review something Star Wars every time, I think it'd be interesting to see them review the fight in the Star Wars Visions episode The Ronin because that episode was just pure samurai movie goodness. Also a tiny disclaimer, nothing in Star Wars Visions is canon and were just a bunch of animation studios given the greenlight to make something Star Wars, so some of the episodes do some real wacky stuff (looking at you The Twins).

I'm curious to seeing them react to the original test fights of the SW prequels with fights like Anakin vs Dooku, Anakin and Obi-Wan vs Dooku, and Palpatine vs Mace Windu and the jedi. They're on Nick Gillard's channel and in my opinion, while flashy, they are much more slick and smooth than those in the final films.

In star wars, the lightsaber have different parts and stuff that makes each saber different from each other in sounds and performance. This samurai Jedi must have had built his saber to have a quick emitter. My own lightsaber, I actually have a really fast on and off to be able to imitate that move. My own designing of that move though, is to keep the saber hidden with the forearm and a cloak and turn it on when the enemy is not expecting anyone to be there. Assassination. Not Jedi like at all, but probably one of the only real implementations of that ability. The other implementation I thought off, is rather than blocking/catching a blade then turning it off and on, pretend your going to block/catch the blade, and turn it off right before they would make contact. Thus causing the enemy to unexpectedly follow through with their strike. Hopefully knocking them off balance for an instant. Definitely a move that, if it works, won't work a second time. I'm not a swordsman though. I'm just operating on theory.

I’m going to argue that Killer Bee having Gyuki in him for so long has made him part octopus and he can mold his body around the swords. Lol😂 But seriously, yeah that was pretty ridiculous.

The Zorro scene was incredible ! I didn't like the Star Wars scene as much, because I'm not a huge fan of the animation style. If there's one anime with some great swordfights I'd like to recommend to you, it would be Samurai Champloo, I'd love to see you react to some of the sword fighting scenes ! I loooove Killer Bee's fighting style in Naruto, and it reminds me of another character who fights with a stupidly high number of swords : Mifune from Soul Eater (the manga), though instead of doing breakdance and catching it with his arm pits, he simply juggles with it. And as for the Count of Monte Cristo, there's currently a new movie that just came out in France, I haven't seen it yet but I'd love to see the fight choreography in it !

Hey do you by chance know about knife fighting? I'm an anime and fantasy fan that loves the reverse grip, despite being aware of how dumb it is. I'm not a swoardman, samurai, saberist etc. But I love to learn about them. I fell in love with a Filipino martial art known as Kali. Reverse grip, or "ice pick grip" is pretty common. Obviously this is because its a short blade and the physics work better than something long with leverage. What I'm wondering, is there a scenario, where a knife could be used reverse grip with dual wielding a sword? Like using the knife like a parrying dagger, or maybe using it more like Kali? Like using your main hand weapon to block and use the knife to shred an opponents limbs? I'm not saying it is possible or not. I'm genuinely asking based on a thought I had when I was smoking weed. At the very least bit, I've never seen anyone put out a video on how reverse grip could be useful if you used a knife, or a short blade, instead.

8:21 the reason why trakata isn’t used a lot is because in Star Wars it’s stigmatized by both Jedi and sith The Jedi think it’s honorless and the sith view it the same as using a noob tube in CoD
