I am 71 years old and have been trapping for 60 of those years. I have been using body grip traps almost exclusively for water trapping since 1974. I am a big fan of stakealizers but I use two per trap. That eliminates any wiggle or turn of the trap. For deeper water, I use the deep water, tall "H" stands to great effect. Like you I was taught early on the use two sticks in an "X" formation to stabilize the trap and still do where I can but there the bottom of the stream is too hard, I use short stabilizers welded or riveted to railroad plates and even old brake rotors. The drawback there is the weight to be carried but I cable the trap to the rotor or plate for added security. Good video! Keep giving good advice and Tight chains fellow trapper.

Great feedback sir. I love those tall H stands also in water. Haven't tried the other tricks. Good ideas

I use stakes or branches with my 160s over woodchuck holes. Same with my bucket set.
