To prime my surface I use:
Liquitex black Gesso :
Liquitex 5320251 Professional Gesso Surface Prep Medium, Black, 8-oz www.amazon.com/dp/B000KNDMNE/...
I also did a layer of Mod Podge to make the surface a bit slippy to doing swooshes.
Sealants I use:
For rocks staying indoors I use DuraClear as my preferred one. For rocks going outside I prefer to use ArtResin brand.
And for canvases there are many varieties. (Americana,Krylon )

I just happened upon this channel for the first time tonight. I watched as you announced Sue’s passing. I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’m sure her viewers will miss her dearly. I love this one. I am trying it now. It is my first attempt with swooshes. It was going well until today (I have been letting it dry well before adding an element). Today one row of swooshes wasn't great. I am going to try and fix it tomorrow, hopefully with a small paint brush. This is much harder than you make it look. lol I went ahead and put the guidelines on before starting the video so I couldn't do the mod podge. I will for sure next time! Thanks so much for posting this. I love all your work!

Thank you Eva! Swooshes do take some time to get. Paint consistency is really the key. Have fun and just embrace the happy little mistakes as you learn.
