I often find it frustrating when the objects (house, etc.) change elevation when I'm tweaking the terrain. Any way to lock objects to a fixed elevation?

Build your house on a zero elevation, group it all together, then go to advanced properties or hot-key J, and click on "absolute elevation". Grades will no longer mess with your structures.

I've watched this video multiple times. Thanks for putting it up. However, this isn't a real house w real elevation lines. How do you take the topographic information that is available for a plat, along with the existing house measurements and make it all work? I am dealing with a house on a slope that has a full basement, but you don't see the basement from the front, just from the back. I have tried multiple ways to make this happen, but just can't seem to get it right! Thanks

Thanks for the video. What if you have all of the contour lines laid in from the topo...I have trouble building the hardscape on top of that (house, drive, sidewalks, decks, patios etc.). They all seem to follow the slope of the land? How do you fix this issue?

Try using area grader at 100% to make a flat spot...then change your topo lines
