Very true. But I would like to add another point. I am from a BPL family, studied hard and secured a govt. seat. Since there is no job, I have to practice as an associate dentist or set up one’s own practice which is not possible for me due to huge investment. Now, it’s not that I’m not earning but I’m earning enough for my basic needs as an associate. One thing that concerns me is, if one of my family member gets admitted in a hospital then I’m not in a position to bear the hospital expenses. I’m grateful though for my earning because as compared to other states associate dentists earn much more as of now in my region. But still in my opinion, its better for BPL & lower middle class do not opt for BDS because its a costly profession (be it govt. or private) because govt. colleges may not be costly but reality hits you hard once you pass out. BDS is for those who has already roti, kapda & makaan. And BPL families struggle for even those three things. I don’t want anyone to take it as a negativity but a wise instruction. Wish someone was there to counsel me about career choices. Btw I’m 7 years into practice.

@@Ndcreation153 it's better to do bachelors in any other course rather than doing bds from private institute..coz it's not worth it ...after completing bds from Pvt you will hardly earn 20 k ...and after that you will have to assure that you crack neet pg ..so you could do mds from govt institution ... otherwise bds degree is of no use...that's the harsh reality of this field ...

@@Ndcreation153 If you don’t have to struggle for food, clothing, shelter (and if you even have a commercial room or building-plus point) then you can go for it. Because after you open a clinic you’ll definitely have struggling period during which atleast you need not worry for those three basic things. Otherwise opt for other fields. Don’t just get into medical or dental just for the prefix ‘Dr’.

One thing I'm noticing that even in rural areas now people are taking dentists seriously because of increase in quality of life in recent years. So I personally think it's future is quite bright

Once you start dentistry you won’t feel the same, each branch has its own perks.. Don’t feel disheartened by the things on internet, there is pointless hatred and only some truth.. just follow what you love doing and there is absolutely no chance that you won’t succeed in something that you enjoy❤️👍🏻

Both.. if you take direct admission you have to pay more fees via management quota.. but you need to pass the minimum NEET UG cutoff

Lookout for patient flow in every dental college, whichever college has higher patient flow then it will give u more skills hence more earnings for ur long term career Infrastructure, campus, etc doesn’t matter

BDS is good if one works for MDS or invests in abroad exams of Australia. Setting up clinic is not only option. One should be willing to work in small town and city setups. There is saturation for BDS but not MDS/high skilled doctors.
