I love listening to Sohyang singing because she is a soulful singer. She sings it from her soul and emotion. I know that people try to use this version to sing it but not as good as Sohyang. They lack of emotion. Sohyang is a cancer survivor and devoted Christian. She went through hardship and health issue. She doesn't go for wealth and fame but to inspire people with her singing. We need humble people like her in our life. In 2020, she joined Begin Again Korea season 4 btw June to Aug 2020 with other talents to do road show which was organised by JTBC to comfort people during the coronavirus period. Go watch them perform especially this song named "Road" where they cried because the lyrics is similar to their journey on the road they took.

I love how So Hyang is very versatile in mixing genres in one song and does it so effortlessly too. She and Dimash can sing pretty much anything! Dimash just has command of the strange and emotes every word/note that he is singing. But So Hyang is just as good and taking a cover and making it better!

Hi Matt, really love your content and the way you explain the intricacies of singing while keeping it easily understandable. I recently came across a cover of Shiloh's I know you so well by Jovan Perez and wanted to pick your brain a little. There's this distinct quality to his voice that hits me upon his very first note, it's this very rich and melodic quality to it, as if he had a saxophone lodged in his trachea, I understand that its party due to every voice being different but at the same time I'd like to know what exercises are used to build this rich and melodic quality to the voice. Keep up the good work and hope to hear back from you!

Kim So Hyang the family name is first (Kim) So Hyang is her first name .. and stays in the order (So Hyang) she is known as just So Hyang few put the Kim first as non Koreans mistakenly think it is her first name .. because it is a Korean show they put it Simon Paul (last name first) instead of Paul Simon.
@ramseyvoicestudio4 жыл бұрын
got it......
@joandsarah774 жыл бұрын
'So" is the first sysllable and 'Hyang" is the second. Korean is read left to right top to bottom. The H is connected to the second syllable. As to how to exactly pronounce that second syllable seems open for debate, I think only a Korean could say that correctly. Kim is her surname which is how they write names in Asia. Surname first and the given name last, which is probably why they have 'Simon Paul' rather than 'Paul Simon'. They don't flip sysllables though.
@ramseyvoicestudio4 жыл бұрын
and sometimes I think in Asian countries that have the last name first, some people out it the other way to avoid confusion, which is even more confusing to me!! Maybe I'm wrong
@joandsarah774 жыл бұрын
@@ramseyvoicestudio I've seen people call her Kim thinking it's her first name lol. Kim may be a first name in the west but not in Asia. Kim is a very common surname in Korea, it would be like Smith in the west.

just to add, calling her just 'So' would be like someone calling you just 'Ram'. In Korean, family name(surname) comes 1st, as it should in life.

Koreans always place the clan or family name first, thus it is Kim Sohyang. So when you see "Simon Paul" instead of Paul Simon I am pretty sure it is an unconscious carrying over of this Korean grammatical practice when spelling English names. Still, when Koreans move to North America they will reverse this, adopt the English norm, and place Kim at the end of the name, thus Sohyang Kim. And in Korean culture the wife will always retain her own clan-family name in marriage. So Kim is Sohyang's clan name from the Kim clan she was born into in 1978 in South Korea. There are almost 350 different Kim clans just in South Korea alone! Quite different from our Anglo-Saxon culture.
