Hari OM Would have thought they were Black Welsh Mountain Sheep - but the presence of significant horns suggest they are actually Hebrideans! That was a juvenile Cormorant earlier - Shags are smaller and have a head tuft. The Welsh coastline and peaks have very similar appeal as that of Scotland - yet, no doubt, there are differences and ambience to compare - and you brought us on another lovely meander! Ta for that. Hi both, I've had the battery problem when using a tablet for navigation. The USB charging from the vehicle wouldn't keep mine running in my Peugeot 3008 when I had it. I found the best way was to use a 10 or 20,000 mah power pack with a fully charged tablet. In the coarse of the day you probably flatten both but at least you can charge then overnight. Remember, if your using a tablet without sim capability it's actually using more power connecting to your external GPS as well. It won't manage as well as if it had everything on board like a 4g one plus your vehicle battery won't necessarily be giving your peripherals the lions share of the power. Look for an email in a day or so too, if I remember in the morning what I want to tell you Ken. 🤔🙄
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
Will keep an eye out Nigel 😁👍. Battery packs do work well but take forever to recharge in the van so we try and just power everything from the engine or leisure battery on our trips. 👍

I find the study of old stone habitation sites fascinating. Here's why : a) That they sat around until someone said "Let's get some Heavy-as-F8ck-stones and pile them up on top of a hill" to which half a dozen men presumably yelled out "Yes, we've nothing better to do that's a great idea". b) "This is proof to me that there's a committee involved" - Billy Connolly. c) Imagine being there when the project manager and chief engineer said "Right you lot, we need that stone up there placed precariously on those other stones". That would have gone down faster than a lead balloon. d) Imagine being there when all the lads were told how heavy the rocks were and said "OH get f8cked" and walked off the site. Even with a huge bowl of Weeties or Corn Flakes in the morning you're not going to have the energy to lift a bloody great stone to above head height are you ? e) What gave the people back then the motivation to spend all their energy placing rocks in a pile that won't even keep the rain out is a mystery to me. But the alien theory is just as absurd : 1) Why would aliens fly right across the galaxy only to help a dozen cave dwelling Welshmen stack up a pile of rocks ? Why would they help them ? And if they had the power and technology to lift huge stones then why didn't they build something a bit more user friendly like, oh, i dunno, an apartment block ? 2) Imagine being there when the aliens finish (presumably quickly) building the stone structure we see in this film ? Imagine the opening ceremony. The local chieftain makes a speech and says "Thanks to our alien friends we have done the impossible - placed a heavy-as-f8ck-rock on top of others, we've wanted to do that for some time now but could never quite figure out how to do it" "I now decree by the powers invested in me by the lady of the lake in a farcical aquatic ceremony this attraction to be open" 3) Afterwards, the chief and the alien are having drinks on board the mother ship and the aliens ask the chief "Are you happy with what we built you?" to which the chief replies "Yes, it's perfect, just what we always wanted thank you" The aliens flew away thinking how nice it was to help out the down-trodden oppressed people of Wales.. 4) For centuries afterwards, parents took their young families there. That's where the stories of fairies and pixies come from. Kind of like the first boy scouts. All the kids running around playing Ring a Ring a Rosy. But when they hiked the entry fee the business went broke and fell into disrepair. The aliens did eventually come back in the 1960's only to find the Welsh had started digging holes and so they decided to keep going and come back in another 1000 years. Of course, the other theory that explains this pile of grey odd-shaped stones is that it was built by some university kids with a JCB and telehandler......
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
Interesting theories Ade but my money is they started by digging three small pits and pushed the legs of the tomb into them. Next they excavate around that piling all the earth on too of these stones until they are just buried. Next they build a ramp and drag that big stone on top using oxen. Next they pile earth on top and pack it tight. Finally they dig out the tomb and entrance tunnel. 😁👍 All sub contracted to a roving band of diggers travelling by oxen called Tombs R Us 👍

I have been campervaning for about the last five years & go to Devon every year have done Scotland ,Ireland& Wales, I have nothing against wild camping & the way you do it really affects nobody but over the last few years I have noticed more & more car parks are putting up height restrictive barriers. I drive a Ford Custom pop top camper & it is becoming harder to find car parks where we can just park in, not camp, I am told this is all down to prevent people wild camping so even those wild camping done properly affects no one it is having a knock on effect on campers / motor homes not being able to park in as many places.
@LifeistooshortCK2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian. I can’t speak for what is happening in Scotland but I do know why most councils in England are putting up barriers. During the summer months a couple of places got hit hard by large groups of travellers that rocked up for a long stay and heavy boozing. They had a major negative impact upon local businesses and the rowdy behaviour caused many tourists to leave. Councils want to prevent rather than cure hence the barriers. The downside is they also impact good people. This is the main reason we chose the van we have. It doesn’t have the comforts of a big rig but we never have to worry about height barriers in car parks. What we do has little impact, what large groups of travellers do does. 👍

There doesn't tend to be many no camping signs due to it being a no wildcamping law in wales. Pembrokeshire has been cracking down hard on this this summer especially at freshwater beach park ups.
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
They were all over the place when we were last there but we didn’t see any on this latest trip. I don’t like those signs which say it’s illegal without the landowners permission. What act and section are they relying on ? I think it’s all bluff as there are no penalties being displayed and the legislation that they will quote only applies if there are 6 vans present and even then you have to be causing serious damage or nuisance and then they can ask you to move on. They want you to fear a penalty.
@amzlouise58613 жыл бұрын
@@LifeistooshortCK yes it depends on what council is dealing with it some are more lax I read that they were changing the rules so it was easier to penalise one van instead of a group. I also found this online but know you choose your locations carefully and would move when asked but its just a heads up. "If caught wild camping without permission, you will be found guilty of trespassing, however, as this is a civil offence you cannot be arrested for, you will likely be asked to move on. If you do not leave immediately when asked to do so by the landowner, somebody acting on their behalf or a police officer - or if you return to the same spot within three months of being asked to leave - you may be found guilty of committing the criminal offence of aggravated trespass, a crime that hold a maximum penalty of three months imprisonment, or a fine of £2,500, or both. First time offenders would likely get a fine of between £200-£300."
@LifeistooshortCK3 жыл бұрын
Exactly as I thought. They are selectively leaving out crucial components of the offence. Without those components (i.e. at least 6 vans and siginificant damage) there is NO criminal offence (which is why you can’t be arrested) and it remains a civil offence. We would always leave if asked to move but I don’t like being conned.

Hi folks, I've been watching your channel for some time and enjoying the videos. As both of you always look clean and well groomed, I've been wondering what you do about showers. Going a few days using wet wipes and a hot flannel etc would be OK, but how do you manage on your extended trips? Regards, Malcolm

I think its one of the myths of campers that you need showers and a proper chemical toilet. Longest we have been away is about 5 weeks and flannel washes have worked fine for us. I promise we don’t smell at all but the secret is to steam the flannels every day. We have yet to be somewhere baking hot so that might be more difficult but my gut feeling says not. Every now and then we check into a hotel for one night but that tends to be if one of us is not feeling well. That can often save a trip.

I got confused after watching your video on condensation and thought I’d missed the end of your Wales tour! I’ve just had another quick look at this video to check and remembered your comment at the beginning of the video about looking to change the little red camper and then there was no mention of this again, probably why I forgot to ask about this commenting! So are you looking to change the little red camper?

No we are not changing the van just joking about the iron age fort 😁 The Wales trip will continue with the next episode. I posted the bubblewrap video early to help some friends 👍

@@LifeistooshortCK I probably picked that up when I watched the entire video. I wondered if the condensation video was in response to the question Happy Days raised about their van. Either way, Hopefully your video was helpful for them.

They want to get rid of cash and we all need to be concerned by this plan. When currency is purely digital we will lose control of what we can spend it on. Bought too much meat ? They will prevent you buying any more. I saw an article about the Bank of England asking the government to make up its mind about do they want the currency to be programmable or not. Programmable means they can turn on and off your ability to pay for things. Just think, they will be able to take a cut of every transaction we make, car boot sales, a tip for the postman, a gift to your son. I think you might sense I am not a fan of this idea. It will of course kill the black market, the cash only payments at the Chinese takeaway but I wonder what the criminal gangs will do ? How do you pay for drugs if every transaction is tracked by the government. Fraud will Sky rocket.

We know its not a tent or a bivvy but what we do is called wild camping in the van world so we go with the flow. 👍

You don't have to describe and give us your opinion on everything that you are filming. The constant talking is quite annoying....and having to look at the negative name of the channel all the time is also not good...we don't need a constant reminder of that fact.
