I am not flooring master but just had water damage in my house. Water travels. If the water doesn't go between the joint, it will go from the edge of the floor. Make sure you seal the edge properly or it will be just like the laminate floor.

I'm thinking of putting this in my house. A couple of nice things you didn't mention about it, since it is made with actual wood veneer under the wear layer, the wood grain is natural, and it is not even possible for any two planks to be identical.

Great video. I installed the Flooret Modin LVP 3 years ago. It still looks like new. I asked lots of questions of Flooret's experts. They were quick with responses that were excellent. I even recommended they go to your website after I signed up with you. The Sylvan is new. From your video it appears to have a surface at least as strong as the Modin. I strongly recommend Flooret as a company and the Modin LVP as a product. From your review the Sylvan may be even better.

The veneer hardwood layer is only 0.6 mm (60% of 1 mm). I've never heard of the wood veneer being this thin on engineered wood flooring. Needless to say, you'll never be able to sand and refinish this flooring. I'm not saying it's not a good product, but I'd like to know more about that part of it. Love your videos, by the way.

I have the Flooret LVP. After 3 years it looks like new. I don't believe you can refinish this floor. But I don't believe you would want to. First, you could not put a finish as hard as the factory finish on it. Second, you can easily replace any planks that are damaged. Third, sanding and refinishing are expensive and unhealthy. My belief is after 20 or 30 years one would just replace the floor, if necessary. The old idea of refinishing wood floors doesn't make sense given the advances in flooring. Remember the reason one refinishes floors is because both the finish on the surface and the wood below are relatively soft and prone to wear. These planks are very hard, and the finish is really hard. So, the planks last a very long time. A normal hardwood floor would need to be refinished in 10 years or less. At 10 years I suspect this floor still looks like new.

My kitchen flooded because of supply line in the ceiling freezing. Because I left a 1/2” space between the flooring and the drywall, there was no damage to the walls from water wicking up into it. I used a rubber based waterproof flooring that just lays together that doesn’t have to be glued down. The flooring guy however chose to glue it down anyway so the subfloor was protected. Nothing was damaged at all from the ceiling on down and there was a 1/4” of water on the floor when we got there.

Oh, also one good trick is to use the inside edge of a small framing square to score a cut out for a doorway by cutting toward the opposing edge of the square to keep from slipping and over cutting your line.

When installing over concrete, I'm always concerned about moisture. Many tract homes have no barrier or drainage under the 4" slab on grade. With this concern, how do you rate this floor for moisture issues when compared to LVP? Your channel is awesome.

Interesting product thanks for sharing. Probably not the biggest deal with flooring but your table saw blade does need the gullets to mostly be above the surface of the cut to properly clear, which means I think you are running your blade a1/4 or so too low. If you worry about the saftey aspect Dewalt has a real nice riving knife with guard set up that came with mine, I used to think they are dumb but it actually is pretty helpful in live wood or wet wood in particular (not sure thats an issue for you but bad habits are dangerous)

Fantastic video! Thought I was sold on LVP until now. You've sold me on the product and have some samples on the way. I have a question about glue down. Just doing a master BR for now and will prep the floor with self leveler where needed and then seal the floor. My idea is to use liquid nails with serpentine pattern under each plank. I’ve been searching for a waterproof flooring but hate the repeating patterns of the vinyl planks. I ran across a flooring America product (H2O) that seems to be the same as the flooret silvan you reviewed here. Flooret doesn’t have the color I need. Is this called veneer spc? About a year ago, I contacted Flooret and obtained the Silvan sample pack, and used your coupon code. I had to put off ordering my flooring due to other commitments, but now I'm going forward, and I want to use Silvan. I'm installing in a bedroom 10 x 13 with a closet. The manufacturer says not to install cabinets on top of the flooring as it will hinder expansion / contraction. I do not plan to do that, but what about closet door hardware? I plan to use sliding doors with the wheels on the top and just a small guide at the bottom, so there will not be a long bottom track. Have you dealt with this before and, if so, do you use screws to secure the plastic guide through the finished floor into the subfloor?

I was thinking of replacing the carpet with a solid surface and hardwood was really expensive. I am debating getting rid of the hardwood to do the whole house with these. I have installed a lot of 3/4 nail-down T&G real wood before, but having seen this, considering it for this application - on this new-to-me home, I have a main living/kitchen/entry area that has about 1000+ sq ft of 90's tile that I would really NOT like to bust out if I can help it! After suitable prep levelling grout lines, would you glue this product to that substrate? Or float over a pad? A secondary question would be regarding exterior door thresholds - most of my doors in this instance will be fine, but I have a couple that will need to be raised - have you ever had to do that personally? That would be a great video if you could show an example of that.

If the tile is flat and all secure, you can definitely go over it using the glue method.

What do YOU think, Joe, with this product? Would the Glue itself be enough to planarize it or should I pre-fill the grout lines? I'm considering this flooret silvan and I've also seen a couple spc core products with a wood veneer that say they're waterproof. The brands I've seen are raintree and lifecore h2ome. Have you seen these? I'd love to hear how they compare to this flooret silvan product.

My problem with all of these floating type floors has always been removal & replacement of damaged pieces. It's a straight forward task to remove a piece of ceramic tile or VCT in the middle of a floor and replace it. It may not be fun but it's doable. It's not that it's hard removing the damaged piece of laminate, but replacing it is the problem. You didn't really go into detail in the video of how you modified the replacement piece exactly. Did you just cut the groove off? What about the ends? If you cut the groove off what's left for any glue to stick to? Did you leave a small amount of the groove on there? I guess if you were doing a glue down installation, gluing the click system back together wouldn't be as important.

Flooret is my choice. The locking system is a true tongue and groove and Life proof is not. So that alone makes Flooret a much stronger plank in the locking system. If you go with Flooret Base that is still a 20 mil wear layer and the other Flooret lines are 40 mil.

This is a main concern of mine. I want to install about 1600 sqft over concrete slab. I did my master bedroom, about 300 sqft, using Adura Max WPC and when my golden retriever walks on it it is very load. Like an old school laminate.
