Great video thank you so much. I was considering the Ego21" or the Ryobi20". Ryobi is 400$, Ego 550$. Since i also need a weedwacker and a blower, for 300$ i can get the Ryobi kit and it also come with a 4ah battery. I was afraid i wouldn't have enough of the 6ah battery to finish my 6000 sq2 terrain, guess it's more than enough. Thanks for taking the time to make the review it was super helpful!! :)

Just purchased this Ryobi push lawnmower because our riding Ryobi mower is in the shop getting new batteries after 5 years of mowing an acre. We also have a Ryobi weed eater and Blower. I love Ryobi. Their products are reliable and do a great job! The batteries are interchangeable (except on the riding mower) and that is very convenient. Better than gas in my opinion but everyone has their preference.

I looked at the Roybi rider but was disappointed it was just standard lead acid batteries and not the swappable lithiums. But the push mower has been great, and I get my steps in for the week LOL.... thanks for watching.

My dad found one of these at a yard sale for $50. The advertised 40V battery is actually a 36V battery so I'm in the in the process of getting it modded out and wiring in a connector for a 20 AH scooter battery for a fraction of the price of a new Ryobi battery. I mowed with it the other day and it did the job pretty well.

I still screw up the start from time to time by not holding the button down long enough... I think they paint the blade so it doesn't rust before someone buys it. Could explain why it doesn't seem sharp enough.... Glad you like it and thanks for watching.

Was hoping you'd show us how it mows and if it bogs down.
@AdventuresonTour Жыл бұрын
Ya sorry about that.. was kind of a big oops on my part for not filming that. Maybe I'll do a short and link that to this one.. It doesn't really bog down as eletric has more torque than gas. You can here it rev up under heavy loads.
@joshuabeep3 ай бұрын
Man when it bogs down it becomes a mess. It dies and you gotta restart it but you have to tilt it back to kick the stuck clippings out since it won't have enough power to push them into the bag itself.

I have this mower and I only mow my backyard, and I only do that when I damn well feel like it. (I hire someone to mow the front, weekly, so it keeps up with my Joneses. LOL) Because I hate mowing, I like to do it when it's cool ( I live in the South of USA, not Canada) and that means late in the day into early nightime. This thing has a headlight and it's so quiet that I can mow even after my neighbors (a driveway width from my house on each side) have gone to bed. Most gas powered mulching mowers would recommend cutting your grass after it has grown 1/4' to 1/2" and I would bet that that is the sort of cutting profile that will give you the advertised run time, but who, with a life, does that? I know my front yard doubles in length in a week and my "man" uses a riding mower on it. These batteries are made up of LG brand LiFePO4 cells that are rated for 400 cycles, but that doesn't mean that they are "dead" at that point. They will still have 80% of their power available to run your mower or other tools. It will maintain that 80% for many, many more cycles and then drop a little more. The key thing to remember is that the 400 cycle lifetime is just if you fully charge the battery and then run it dead EVERYTIME, which you can't do even if you wanted to because it has a battery management system in it that will shut it down at about 10% if it's working right. Anything less than full recharge/discharge cycling with extend that 400 cycle period. You will likely buy a new mower because the technology has improved than because your battery wore out. Most folks with regular sized yards are going to love this mower IMH, Yet Educated, O
@AdventuresonTour10 ай бұрын
I couldn't agree with you more.. and 400 cycles. Maybe did 6 cycles on these ones all summer, as the grass burns up in the sun by the end of July.. so they should last me 75 years 🤣🤣

You only mow 10 times a year? Here in Southeast Texas it is every week 6 months a year and every other week 6 months a year, so about 35 cuts a year
@AdventuresonTour2 ай бұрын
On average, yes, that's about it.. Snow on the ground 4 months of the year here. Overall 6 months of the year its dormit.The first cut this year was the 2nd week of May. 3 times in June, and now the rain is over, and the heat is moving. Grass is already starting to slow its growth. Maybe 1 cut in July and 1 in Aug. Then 2 or 3 in September, and that's it..

Yes we don't have true HOAs here in Ontario. But there are some neighborhoods that do have similar types of setups, or even local by-laws that place restrictions on law equipment. Figured it was easier to drop the HOA term as most of views are in the US.

How is your long term reliability of this mower? I had a previous model Ryobi mower and it fell victim to where is wont start anymore which was a common issue with previous ryobi mowers. I am hoping Ryobi solved this issue with the newer models.
@AdventuresonTour5 ай бұрын
Good question. I'm only 1 year in to it. And it hasn't been an issue yet. The 18v I had before one ran 5years without issue. Gave it to a friend of mine and it's still going strong. So hopefully either the problem you had has been fixed or just a one off unit issue. 🤔

I was a bi disappointed with Home Depot and Ryobis warranty process also after I found out Home Depot no longer serviced Ryobis warranty process. Great video! I have a quick question for you. You mentioned it took approximately 37 minutes to cover 99% of the lawn, which is impressive. Since my lawn is similar to yours, I'm curious about how much you used the self-propelling functionality. Did you mow with 100% self-propelled mode for the entire 37 minutes? If not, what if you were to use self-propelled mode throughout the entire lawn? How long would one battery last? I wasn't quite sure about it from watching the video.
@AdventuresonTour Жыл бұрын
This one isn't self propelled.. its user propelled 🤣🤣... This one is the bare bones basic 40v mower. Might be why the runtime seems higher 🤷♂️ Thanks for watching ..
@Agent77X11 ай бұрын
While buy a self propelled model? Drains more of the battery run time!😂
@AdventuresonTour11 ай бұрын
@@Agent77X the self propelled model comes in a duel battery setup. That takes care of the extra power draw of the self propelled drive, and adds about 50% (70mins vs 45min) more run time to the mower.

Can you use the 40V 4ah with this one as well? Or do you have to use the 6ah only?
@AdventuresonTourАй бұрын
I've never tried my 4ah on it. I know I've stalled on over current the brush cutter attachment on my weedwacker using the 4ah that came with it. So I'd have to guess you'd be ok until you really started to work the mower.

Convinced me to not go near an electric mower. I have a yard thats about a third of an acre and it takes me over an hour with a gas motor. I mowed every week with it for about 12 years and it just died. I seriously doubt this thing would have that kind of longevity
@AdventuresonTour5 ай бұрын
I'm a firm believer in getting the right tool for the right job. My yard is similar in size but I have a lot of driveway and other areas that limit what actually has to be cut. The larger unit that this one might work better for you. But you might be on the edge of where this isn't the right tool. So sticking with gas until the technology gets better might be better for you. Thanks for watching.

Sorry to say it's not fake.. this one came with the 6ah battery. I show the battery right around the 2-minute mark. Yours that dies and over heats in 5 minutes is clearly a defective battery.
