I upgraded my line to the Spiral Line (5-Pack) (red string .95) from Ryobi and holy moly it makes a big difference. I've used the same line now... for a few months and have cut heavy vines without an issue. Highly recommend if you're looking for a low maintenance string trimmer.

I've had mine for about five years now and it is still going strong. I have the edger, trimmer, blower and even the chain saw head (with extension). It's great to just be able to pick it up, put on the attachment you need and just pull the trigger instead of having to go through 6 or more steps to start the thing. And it has plenty of power. I've never had a task it couldn't complete. A tip is to try to find these online refurbished or remanufactured. They are way cheaper and usually still have the same warranty.

New subscriber here. I am a long time Ryobi owner. I have both the 40v trimmer and 21” push mower. My string trimmer auto advances (no bump feed). I need to replace the string trimmer and since I have a whole lot of Ryobi tools and am invested in the Ryobi batteries and chargers, I am looking to replace my old Ryobi trimmer with a new one. I like that there are 2 lines on the one you tested. My string trimmer only has one line. Also it chewed up batteries, so I would go through a 4ah just trimming in one setting. As an aside, I keep a 9ah on my trimmer and it lasts a good while now. I can’t fit the 9ah in the push mower - doh! I do use the Ryobi mowers for trimming my Texas country lawn and a 54” zero turn Bad Boy mower for the bulk of the mowing. So all that to saw, thanks for your video. All the best!

For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

I had a Black and Decker trimmer cordless and it lasted 10 years. I loved it. It finally broke. So I bought this Ryobi. And I'd give it a C+. The line gets short real quick. And bumping it doesn't work. I have to stop. Flip it over and manually bump it. Its a PITA! My B and D was 50$ and never an issue. Just put the new spool in and go. I tried finding a cordless Black and Decker and no one has it in stock. I'm so frustrated with this Ryobi. I'll try restringing it again. It did work fresh out the box so maybe its how I restrung it. A little late, but that sound is basically electricity being pulsed into the motor from the ESC at an audible tone. The ESC (electronic speed control) uses PWM (pulse width modulation) to vary the speed of the motor.
@TheLawnWhisperer2 жыл бұрын
Why don’t my other battery powered pieces of equipment make a similar noise? They seem to just fire up and go without the noise
@whitehat552 жыл бұрын
@@TheLawnWhisperer I believe this has to do with an array of factors. For example, how and when the ESC delivers power to the motor in relation to the application of throttle, the harmonics of the motor, the resistance of the drive train to overcome friction and initiate motion, etc... I think it just depends a lot on how each piece of equipment is engineered. I can give you an example of how this is a known phenomenon if you are familiar with drones or other electric RC craft. When you power up many of these systems the brief initialization or arming tone/tones you hear are made in the same way. There is no actual "audio speaker."
@whitehat552 жыл бұрын
Also, I'm sure you must have a battery or corded drill/Sawzall, something like that. Slightly pull the trigger enough to deliver power without initializing any motion. You'll likely hear a similar tone.

I just got mine today, the beeping is over exaggerated. It’s literally soft and you don’t hear it a second after start up. Gotta remember it’s got power to build and needs capacity to transfer battery power to torque through the components. It’s not THAT crucial lol me not that loud either lol. Also it’s a tight spring but does not squeeze when you bang it and is not as windy. I think you got a bunky one from Home Depot. I did today too when it came in and exchanged for another at the store. This sucker is a cheap beast mode for this hood lawn of hard grass of mine. The attachment fixes the problem. I have a speed load on mine. It’s not the whisper series, it’s not THAT loud.
