Me too I do not buy any of these beers. In Tenerife Cruzcampo is about 50p for a 330ml tin .. its cheaper than Spar own brand beer. Its £5.50 a pint in my home town (small market town in north east)

The small bubbles, the smooth taste, the lack of a bitter aftertaste. It was perfect. I've never understood the Madri hype, I think it's VERY, VERY average beer (BRITS just got taken in by marketing sh1te IMO). I tried the San Miguel dupe last w/e though and didn't mind that too much at all, particularly at the price point.

Mahou is the beer of Madrid. 'Madri' is just ridiculous. I'm enjoying Mahoo and Estrella Galicia - both picked up in Lidl.

I've had the Mahou and I think it's OK but I am not that keen with Spanish brews anyway. Mahou is probably the best of the Spanish brews like you say, however. I prefer Belgium (Leffe, Kwak, etc.) and some German beers (Frankinskaner, Lowenbrau, Paulener, etc.)

I drink Estrella Damm here in New Zealand. When over in the UK last year I could not get Estrella Damm and so drank Madri, I did not check whether it was UK brewed. My Estrella is brewed in Spain, a nice drop gluten free, made with barley and rice I do drink a fair amount of this beer

What strength is Madri really? You have Carling being 3.7 when it’s sold as 4. I worked in IT in the late 1980s. I remember going to a meeting and met someone who worked. For Bass. Bass were taken over a few times and are now part of Molsen Coors. He said that they are allowed a discrepancy OF 10% but didn’t need it hence sold their beers at a lower percentage than stated. I suspect it isn’t just Carling. Hence would be surprised it Madri isn’t about 4.2%

Remember having Campcruzo in Roquettas De Mar a couple of years ago before it made it to the UK. Had it bottled ice cold in a chilled glass with a few plates of Tapas. It was the most refreshing, crisp tasting lager I've ever had. Madri and the like are all marketing hype. Peroni is ok but thats like Prosecco for blokes these days 😂 Very base but I used to love the Old Stella on tap. Doesn't taste the same at all these days.

Simon try it again on cool day when you are not gasping for a beer so much, me and my brother both did this test and we couldn't believe how bad the Madri was the beer was night and day in favour of grande, we also did the san Miguel and san Marco on a how day and like you was gasping after working in the garden and we found there was not much difference.

the grande is quite a nice beer, better than the aldi san miguel lookalike but i don't think id go out of my way to buy either unless i was already shopping there. i don't actually mind madri if you take on board that its an English brew, that's if there's nowt else on offer, Carlsberg recipe they say ? maybe you could investígate estrella? once a good Spanish beer but now brewing here, before this it proudly claims to be brewed in Spain but finished off in the uk, what does this mean ?
