My Morrisons (Penzance) also had Saltaire White Xmas £1.50. Blonde ale, crisp, coriander and orange (hints of). Excellent beer. Totally agree the Black Sheep Blitzen is the best of the 3 you reviewed.

I went to Morrisons the other day to check prices on a couple of items and found myself imprisoned by barriers because I hadn't purchased anything. This is yet another store where you HAVE to have a loyalty card to get simply normal prices. I don't have one, so didn't buy anything. I used to shop in Morrisons all the time, but have now completely abandoned them.

When I was much younger ….I am really old….. it was understood that Winter Beers were full bodied, dark and a fair bit stronger than normal, both in alcohol and in taste. They were often over 7% and you walked there and back, since your local was 1/2 mile away

Years ago, you could define a winter warmer by its characteristics against the usual bitters & specials; darker colour, greater use of malt, much more body 6% and a rich complexity of flavours. And of course, they were limited to a seasonal run. Perhaps their relative absence makes the heart grow fonder. But it just makes you appreciate beers like Sam Smiths Welcome and Hook Nortons Twelve Days all the more enjoyable (even though the latter is now available all year round).

When you review Aldi products I have to contemplate a 65 mile drive south to buy them. My nearest Morrisons? 79 miles which includes a 2hr 20 min ferry trip across the Irish sea. Think I will pass 😅🤣😂

Gordon Scotch Ale brewed in Belgium is my fave ever Christmas beer, I have 2 bottles and finally got the glass to look forward to this year ! 😋👌🤗

I like the blitzen. Had a bottle 2 nights ago, with a few other Black Sheep. Second year running. Following night I had 3 or 4 Theakston's and tbh Black Sheep ain't a patch on them, far superior.

I used to buy a case of rosey nosey every year, then I few years ago, it tasted different, not very good, and I stopped, I also found the bottled XXXB was not so good, used to be very nice, something changed at the brewery?

@Kenny-zw1lp Victory ale and dark lord were my favourites, I think they stopped making dark lord and they stopped selling victory in my area.

Haven't had these in years as they don't do anything for me. I see them and go URRRGH! In my local Morrisons they also have Saltaire's White Christmas Beer. I just leave then all on the shelf, am not impressed with the flavour and ABV. They have a strange demographic to fill. Getting a festive feel to a beer, whilst trying to get people to see it as a session beer by having a low ABV, This doesn't meet my expectations for a Christmas beer. I like a dark beer with a higher ABV, and of course Hook Norton's offering fits the bill. BTW the price you quoted is with a Morrison's More card. It is more expensive without it.

These types of Beers are bereft of quality & flavour, only for folk who normally session drink John Smiths☹ Please review the Northern Monk Peanut & Jelly Stout (8%) at Sainsbury's, there's No way you would consider that too sweet🙄
