After crushing his Mamluk rivals, Sultan Baibars turns his armies against the Crusader States, which occupy the coast of the Holy Land. The Crusader States are dwarfed by the massive Mamluk Empire, and dangerously outnumbered by their armies. But crusader castles are powerful, their warriors capable and determined. At the forefront of the Crusaders are the military orders, especially the Knights Templar and the Knights Hospitaller. Can Baibars overcome these courageous warrior monks? Will his vast legions, even with the advantage of numbers, be able to deal with Templar determination? This is truly a clash of the best against the best. The Mamluks are outstanding cavalry fighters, vanquishers of the Mongols at the Battle of Ain Jalut. But the Templars are led by Grand Master William of Beauju, a pious leader who fights alongside his knights, who will not yield in the face of overwhelming odds. It was the Templars who had been key in many of the crusaders’ critical victories against Saladin.

but their legacy didn't end in the Holy Land. on the other far end of the Mediterranean, king Denis of Portugal kept the legacy alive establishing the "Military Order Of Christ" which was an off shoot of the Templars , being officially recognized by the pope in the papal bull he drafted 1319. interestingly enough, all of Portugal's famous navigators were born into that deeply religious Christian military order . and don't forget, the Reconquista and waging war against Islam was baked into the national identity of the Portuguese when they first created their global maritime empire, as they took the crusading and fighting spirit head on into North Africa and the rest the Islamic world. . at the height of their global maritime empire , the world was a very dangerous place for Muslims if they had the unfortunate experience of encountering the Portuguese empire.

As much as I enjoyed your videos, I respectfully disagree with one particular phrase. Mamluks weren't of "turkic" origin. They were indeed slave soldiers but they were under heavy Ayyubid influence, trained by ayyubids, spoke Arabic, wrote arabic, and consisted of different ethnic groups not unique to one faction. There are some false historical claims that Mamluks were turkic due to their Kipchak origin. In reality, they were part of the Ayyubid sultanate just like many other varied folks.

Firstly, we do not know if Baibars el bendaqdary killed women and children as you say... But didn’t the Crusaders kill everyone who was in Jerusalem during their first campaign? They exterminated Muslims, Jews, and even Eastern Christians... Saladin treated them with mercy, but the response was that they returned with other campaigns, and so the Mamluks thought that is no solution for the crusaders except to punish them bloodily
