Should I buy one? 🤔 Learned mixing on a Pioneer 400's set then switched to an DDJ-SX, and now I'm thinking about to radically change and buy 2 PLX 1000's and an S9 OR an DDJ-SZ2?!

hey so I was curious. I see in the pioneer software that you can hold shift and touch a fader to adjust start and finish of it. I was trying to adjust my up faders but when I hold shift and touch em nothing happens. am I missing something?

S7 effects is it the same as the S9 and is the S7 the upgrade

Their effects are similar. I think the S7 may have like 4 more new effects. The S7 is an upgrade but not by much.

If you scratch at all, the coolest options are the fader settings! You can set this cut in to 0.3 mm, which is insane!!!!!!

Yes, but the mixer is already connected to the computer for Serato Playback...

Hey I was hoping to hear the Beat FX being played instead of talking about it and how to change it in the program. Can the preset Beat FX play without the software? You have to do it in the DJM-S9 utility menu on your computer...

The S9 is compatible with Rekordbox, but you may have to purchase a subscription for it now.

+Jt Money I like the S9 better because its smaller for two-deck hip-hop and scratching style mixing and I wouldn't need an SP1 for the pad features since they are already on-board. If I was a four deck DJ, then I would get the 900SRT...

Since no one has responded to your question, then I will answer it. I've used a Rane 62 multiple times and owned a Rane 61. Now I have the 61 and the s9. Pros for 62: Works with both Serato Scratch Live and Serato DJ (Biggest Benefit) Good Crossfader Great Quality(Rane mixers are workhorses and not only last a long time, but they hold their value) Built in Post Fader Effects Easy Layout Cons for 62 Only 10 pads for cue points vs 16 on the S9 Less customization in the settings than the S9 Echo is sometimes out of sync if you do not tap it out beforehand Pros of S9 Great on board post fader effect(Echo by itself is enough for me to justify buying this over the 62) 16 midi pads for cue points, rolls, slicers, and samplers trigger buttons to lock effects on or just trigger them for 1, 2, 4 beats etc. GREAT crossfader (can adjust pretty much everything about it) Cons of S9 Although quality looks great, there is no proof for longevity Only works with Serato DJ Some people don't like the layout compared to the 62 Overall, I would definitely recommend the S9 and I was always a diehard Rane fan! If you hate Serato DJ and want to stick with Scratch live, then go with the 62.

hey dude. I'm about to purchase this mixer, and i was curious about the paint issue i hear about on the fader knobs and on the plate next to the cross fader. Can you tell me your experience with that on this mixer? thank you. seems like a great unit.

+Brady Wilson The paint did not peel for me at all, but I had a later model S9 unit where they assured me the issue is now fixed. If the paint peels, then pioneer DJ support will replace it for you...

Thanks for the vid. Do you know how to assign a Serato effect to the main outputs from mixer. On a controller I can assign echo and reverb to the main output and leave it that way for my entire set. With this mixer I can't seem to figure how to do that anymore. The Serato screen on the computer no longer gives that option to assign to main.

I'm pretty sure that you have to activate the effects on each channel by using the paddles... I don't believe there is a way to may ti for the entire master output...

You can't layer Serato FX on top of the on-board Pioneer DJM Effects... You will be able to do this on the Rane 72...

+Phil Shonefelt All of the Pioneer Beat FX on the left hand side will work even without any computer connected... But you would want to connect a computer in the beginning to select the effects you want for each button. You can also select the effect by holding the button and selecting the effect without the computer. I should have showed that in the video...

There is a way to do it without the computer, but i forgot... You need to hold the button of the effect you want to change and then click shift and a parameter button of the effect and it will cycle through all the available effects...
