I... That was legitimately very heartfelt. Animatronics are a badly mistreated artform. Seeing this boy treat his old friend with love and compassion was so nice. Some pretty damn disturbing imagery in there, but at the same time, oddly tender.

One of the things I like so much about this is that the kid is Chippy's last fan and he is SO there for it, and it gives Chippy the strength to believe in himself enough to put on one amazing, final show :') Also, I really feel the underlying loneliness of the kid going to this show by himself and sitting down with something to eat and drink and just watching the stage and not having anyone to talk to.

This is one of the most beautiful and artful metaphors. You feel the pain of the animatronic as if it had a soul, but treated as it was disposable. Then the love of this kid, his one last fan. It brings me to tears thinking about how even at your lowest, there is someone out there who’s in your court, still cheering for you. I love this song and video so much.
@lenb41424 жыл бұрын
This made kinda sad. Seeing Chippers's life go down hill as he breaks and gets sick. Then how dedicated his final fan is, running to see chipper perform getting genuinely sad/disappointed when Chipper broke but then running back once he sees he's working again. Then dancing along with his favorite animatronic and hugging him lovingly even after being puked on. Like its just so sad to see chipper perform his last possible show to a kid that absolutely adores him causing him have flashbacks to his former glory and how he got to be to the state of being he's become. Edit: I re watched this on a bigger screen and realized the boy threw away his tickets on the tray, he really did only come to see Chipper and not to play games.

Just heard this song on the radio. Wow. The video just takes it to another level. I love how Chipper waves at the kid and then hugs him as he slowly breaks down. You cannot help but feel as he started to perform for the kid, give it the best performance he's got, and go out knowing someone cared.

As a fan of animatronics myself this was great to watch, and I love how it doesnt go down the same spooky animatronic route that copy a formula similar to fnaf of animatronics wanting to kill, the video shows chipper to be similar to a real person even if he is machine and puts real emotion into him even with his issues. And the accuracy of some of the movements to real bots too was a nice touch! Hope to see more projects which have animatronic themes take this path.

This song is sublime. Experiencing it before ever seeing the video stirred up a lot of emotions in me that conflict with how sunny this feels on the surface. Eventually I read Martin's comments about the track and it adds an awful lot in addition to my own emotional reaction. Later, I saw the video, and I'm just gutted and literally brought to tears by what Nick Roney and his collaborators added to it. It seems to be taken by many as black comedy, but for me it's so much more. It's almost unfathomable to me that so many feelings about living, dying, acceptance, loss, regret, innocence, unconditional love, nostalgia, cruelty and mortality could be captured in the form of a music video, let alone one for such an unpretentious and seemingly joyful piece of music. No need for me to describe my reaction specifically, but I was, and am just incredibly moved and so shaken up by something that seems on the surface to be a little slice of Summer pop. Every aspect of this seems to have spoken to me. I'll hold on to this one, probably forever. We all have those things that reach so deep inside that feel as if they were created for you alone. No way I can thank Martin, Real Estate and Nick enough.

Very heartfelt. This reminds me of the only time in my life I've ever went to a Chuck-E-Cheese's. It was fun, but the family fun center that the eye doctor owned was 10x times more fun. When Chipper sparked and shattered, it was a reminder of how I wasted my childhood wanting an adult. Now, I'm 26 going on 27, and I STILL can't eat and do whatever I want, as my ten year old self kept believing.

This video takes the song into such another realm! As a parents we had had fun taking the kids to Cuck-E-Cheese. To be honest, we first discovered Chuck-E while out of state on our honeymoon. We got to Chuck-E with our first grandson just before it shut down. Needless to say this pulls at a lot of heartstrings. With that back drop there is such a story here of affection, maturing, supporting persevering and joy. It's really cool the way the song and additional story sounds are blended together. I just just the CD, but a rip of the video audio needs to go in the MP3 folder to make the set complete. Oh yea, the song.... The smooth sound, instrumentation, airy vocal and borderline disco sound are really unique Real Estate.

I saw jeremy0’s comment and decided to comment for myself because I’m totally on the same page as they are. Admittedly, this video is very strange, but that doesn’t make it bad. In fact, it’s pretty moving in it’s own way. The fact that this kid is Chipper’s only fan left, and seems so lonely until Chipper himself puts on the effort to put on one last show just for him, is really bittersweet. All good things come to an end, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be forgotten.
